A research opportunity is currently available in the Office of Global Research within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH) located in Rockville, Maryland.
This research opportunity provides an opportunity to learn about the work of NIAID on infectious disease research in various regions and to perform analysis of the bilateral and multilateral programs between NIAID and international partners.
Research Focus:
Under the guidance of a mentor, the participant will be involved in the following activities:
The selected candidate will receive a stipend as support for living and other expenses during this appointment. Stipend rates are determined by NIAID officials and are based on the candidate’s academic and professional background. In addition, NIAID will adjust stipend levels to cover health insurance premiums for ORISE providers, as necessary.
Based on funding availability, the NIAID actively reviews applications and looks to fill opportunities as soon as qualified applicants are identified.
This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The initial appointment is for three to twelve months, but may be renewed upon recommendation of NIAID contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at NIAID in the Rockville, Maryland, area. Participants do not become employees of NIH, NIAID, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.
The qualified candidate should be currently pursuing or have received a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in one of the relevant fields.
