During KY visit, President Trump signs order relieving student debt for disabled vets

LOUISVILLE, Ky, (WTVQ) – President Donald Trump made his fourth trip to Kentucky to speak at the 75th National American Veterans Convention at the Galt House in Louisville Wednesday.

During his 40-minute appearance, Trump signed an executive order, eliminating the federal student debt of disabled veterans.

“After years of neglect, we’re fixing the heartbreaking failures from the last administration at the Department of Veteran Affairs,” he said.

The president also told the more than 2,000 veterans in attendance that his administration helped streamline health care for veterans.

He also took the time to stump for Governor Matt Bevin, who faces a tough re-election.

Trump called Bevin a “truly great governor” and said he’ll be back to campaign for the incumbent, as well as Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell.

After his remarks, the president headed to a private fundraiser for Bevin’s campaign.
