Homeopaths take NHS to court over ban on treatments

The NHS is facing a legal challenge from homeopaths over a decision to stop funding the alternative medicine.

The British Homeopathic Association has applied for judicial review of the “fundamentally flawed” process which concluded that “there was no clear or robust evidence base to support the use of homeopathy in the NHS”.

The BHA said it wanted to protect patient choice but critics warned that the legal action would force the health service to divert money from nurses to lawyers’ fees. The case comes as academics said that most alternative medicine was “morally tainted” in the same way as arms dealing or big tobacco.
