Introduction

The purpose of the Florida Department of Education survey is to gather information from parents of public K-12 school students regarding their knowledge and experiences with career and technical education (CTE) programs in Florida.

At the middle school level, students are introduced to CTE programs in exploration and introduction classes which are designed to pique their interest in learning about career clusters and pathways.

At the high school level, students begin study in the ninth grade or later years which provides them an opportunity to specialize or concentrate their efforts in a particular career and technical program of study or career pathway.  Students are provided opportunities to take a series of classes in a CTE program that progress to more advanced skills through the sequence.

Examples of Career and Technical Education Programs including the following:
  • Computer Programming and Data Essentials
  • Emergency Medical Responder
  • Digital Design
  • Advanced Manufacturing Technology
