Overview of CCA 
The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a public, two-year community college serving Aurora and east metro Denver. CCA enrolls 11,000 students annually, over 62% of whom are students of color, including nearly 32% Hispanic students. 65% of CCA students receive some type of financial aid, including 52% of whom receive Pell grants, and nearly two-thirds are first-generation college students. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills.

POSITION SUMMARY:        
The Director of Workforce Development leads the college’s non-credit training and continuing education efforts.  The position develops and markets the college’s customized training, non-credit courses and other non-traditional workforce development offerings. The Director establishes and maintains relationships with area employers, promotes CCA as a workforce and economic development resource, and establishes mutually beneficial partnerships between employers and the college. This creative and entrepreneurial position requires a leader who is a self-starter capable of advancing a portfolio of employer contacts and marketing to community members to achieve revenue and engagement results, working effectively with internal and external partners, and managing a pool of contract instructors and grant-funded workforce project staff.  
 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement industry outreach and community marketing strategies that yield customized training projects and non-credit enrollment.
  • Promote and leverage Skills Advance (Colorado First and Existing Industry) training grants, facilitate company applications, and manage grant awards.  
  • Develop project and course pricing and content outlines; develop and submit business proposals using established criteria; and manage project implementation within pricing/budget parameters. 
  • Maintain up to date contact information, status notes and follow up action needed in Saleforce and other files and electronic tracking systems as appropriate.
  • Hire and manage instructors, contractors and vendors to support the design and delivery of program offerings; manage project design and delivery.
  • Represent the college at industry events and meetings to elevate and promote CCA as a workforce and economic development resource and maintain a pulse on current and evolving industry needs.
  • Collaborate with college leadership, chairs, faculty and staff to leverage relationships, identify needs, share key outreach findings and engage college staff/leaders in decision making and follow-up conversations as appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business outreach and marketing strategies and establish productive, mutually beneficial business relationships that yield target financial results.
  • Demonstrated understanding of profit and loss, service pricing and margins, marketing and sales. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a broad range of faculty, staff, part-time instructors and training vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse organizations and individuals across the community including employers, business associations, education partners, and government organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to set realistic expectations, manage follow-up in a timely and professional manner, and achieve target results and ongoing relationships.
  • Commitment to the core principles of inclusive excellence in daily interactions and activities, and to engage in CCA’s broader inclusive excellence efforts.
  • Demonstrated competence in standard business software and web-based tools (Microsoft Outlook, Office, Teams, and Zoom, Webex etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral communication, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends. 
  • Flexibility to work on both the CentreTech and Lowry campuses and to travel within the metro area.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of higher education, including understanding of the role and unique characteristics of community colleges.
  • Experience in sales and corporate training. 
  • Knowledge of the business issues, economic development conditions, and resources in CCA’s service area and the Denver-Aurora metro area.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural community or work setting.

Salary Range:  Salary range is $65,000.00-$66,500.00. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
