Deer enjoy a walk on vacant Jersey Shore beach: watch

The Jersey Shore and a herd of deer ... perfect together?

At least 10 deer had the beach in Manasquan all to themselves early on Monday.

A 12-second video posted on Facebook by Maureen O’Donnell Niekrasz shows seven of the deer running toward three patiently waiting deer.

Billi Jo Murphy told the Asbury Park Press that he was startled when the deer ran by at sunrise.

“I couldn’t believe it at first. I thought they were coming right at me,” Murphy told the newspaper.

It was Manasquan’s second attention-grabbing deer encounter in less than a month.

The borough’s police department, on April 21, did a playful post about three deer spotted on a road.

Manasquan, home to 5,800 full time residents, closed its beach walk to help stem the coronavirus pandemic, although the beach itself remains accessible, and plans to start reopening the beachfront on Memorial Day weekend.
