Hersheypark won’t have Springtime in the Park, and Zoo America closes temporarily over coronavirus concerns

HERCO announced a number of updates related to its various properties on Monday as coronavirus concerns continue to alter the local entertainment and events schedule.

Hersheypark will no longer be open Springtime in the Park April 4-19, but the company did say that, as of now, it intends to open for the season on May 1, 2020.

As for events planned at either Giant Center or Hershey Theatre, here is a listing of what’s been postponed and/or rescheduled:

GIANT Center

  • PIAA Basketball scheduled for March 19-21 - Postponed
  • Harlem Globetrotters scheduled for March 22 - Postponed
  • Disney on Ice scheduled for April 1-5 - Canceled
  • Elton John scheduled for April 20 - Postponed; date TBD

Hershey Theatre

  • Brit Floyd scheduled for March 17 - Rescheduled for August 6, 2020
  • Brit Floyd scheduled for March 18 - Rescheduled for August 7, 2020
  • Hershey Symphony Orchestra scheduled for March 21 - Rescheduled for August 1, 2020
  • Nate Bargatze scheduled for April 4 - Rescheduled to June 10, 2020
  • Red Hot Chili Pipers scheduled on March 13 - CanceledConcerts scheduled for later this year at HersheyPark Stadium are currently not impacted.

As for the Hershey Bears, the American Hockey League has joined the NHL, NBA, and other sports leagues in suspending its season for the time being.

Elsewhere, ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is has been temporarily closed to the public, but workers are at the property to take care of the animals.
