Giant grocery stores change hours, will close overnight for coronavirus precautions

The Giant Co. says all its 24-hour stores, including several in central Pennsylvania, will close from midnight to 6 a.m. until further notice.

The move will allow the grocer’s employees to sanitize stores and restock shelves, Giant said in a news release.

The move includes stores in Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, Middletown, Lancaster and Hampden Township.

Pharmacies within stores, which already were not open overnight, will retain normal hours, the company said.

Wegmans similarly has changed its store hours.

Pennsylvania reported 41 cases of coronavirus statewide as of Friday, March 13.
