Coronavirus cancellations: Updated list of postponements, more in central Pa.

As the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow, a number of community groups, businesses, universities and other organizations are starting to cancel events in the central Pennsylvania region.

Below is a list -- in alphabetical order -- of what’s closed, postponed or cancelled. We will continue to update this list as information comes in from news sources, email, Twitter, and directly from organization officials.

Cancelation/postponement list

  • The AACA Museum announced on Monday, March 16 that it will be closed for two weeks. Pre-purchased museum ticket will be available for any other dates.
  • The America East News Media Summit scheduled for March 30-April 1 has been canceled. New dates for the conference will be provided as they become available.
  • The American Lung Association’s Sapphire Gala at Hershey Lodge scheduled for March 14 has been postponed.
  • The American Music Theatre in Lancaster has postponed the following concerts: MasterChef Junior Live, March 14, Stomp, March 15; the Bachelor Live on Stage, March 19; John Denver Musical Tribute, March 22; Celtic Woman, March 27 and 28; and Straight No Chaser, April 3. Information on refunds and potential reschedule dates can be found on the venue’s website.
  • The Arts at Millersville has canceled performances and events scheduled for the next three weeks at the Millersville University Ware Center, located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster, and Winter Visual and Performing Arts at 60 W. Cottage Avenue on the university campus.
  • The fifth annual Bell’s Big Bed Race, scheduled for April 4 in York, has been canceled.
  • A Beethoven Birthday Celebration concert scheduled for March 21 at Pine Street Church as been canceled.
  • The heart screening at Big Spring High School for March 14 sponsored by the Peyton Walker Foundation, has been postponed.
  • The Bishop McDevitt Blue and Gold Gala event, scheduled for March 28, has been indefinitely postponed.
  • Calvary United Methodist Church is cancelling its services for March 15.
  • Capital Area School for the Arts’ has canceled the March 13 and 14 performances of “Fame: The Musical”.
  • Carlisle Regional Performing Arts Center has announced a temporary closure of the Carlisle Theatre through the end of March. The “Top of the World” concert originally scheduled for March 20 will be held May 31 at 6 PM. “The Outlaws” concert originally scheduled for March 28 will be held May 29 at 8 PM. Tickets for purchased for the previous dates are valid.
  • Camp Curtin YMCA has canceled its 2020 Exposure Tour and the Family Affair Concert and Community Celebration scheduled for April 11.
  • A lecture featuring Dr. Kurt Carr, scheduled for March 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Newport, has been canceled. It will be rescheduled at a later date.
  • The Central PA Handbell Festival and Workshop at the Lebanon Area Evangelical Free Church in Jonestown has been canceled for this weekend.
  • Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet will be closed until March 30. During this time, CPYB’s administrative offices are operational with both staff onsite and working remotely.
  • The Central Pennsylvania WWII Roundtable has canceled its meeting for April 2.
  • The Chameleon Club in Lancaster has canceled two events: The Artist Mashup scheduled for March 13 and the Snatched and Drag event scheduled for March 14.
  • Chesapeake Bay Foundation events scheduled through April 1 have been canceled. As of March 16, all CBF buildings will also be closed.
  • Crayola Experience in Easton is temporarily closing its attractions and stores as of March 13. Guests will be offered 30-day extensions on all valid tickets.
  • “Creating Healthy Communities: A Conversation with Ambassador Samantha Power,” scheduled for March 12 at the Lancaster Theological Seminary, has been postponed and will be rescheduled.
  • Dauphin County Commissioners have canceled the following events and training sessions: March 20 - Ladies’ Night Out in Northern Dauphin at the Valley Lighthouse; March 23 – Naturalization Court; March 25 – New voting system training at the East Shore Library; March 26 – New voting system training at the Middletown Library; March 28 – New voting system training at the Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library; March 28 – One-Stop Shop Job and Resource Fair for Youth and Adults at Harrisburg Mall.
  • The Dauphin County Library System has canceled the March 16 and 23 meetings of its Paws 2 Read program.
  • Dauphin County Library System has closed all eight public libraries until March 28.
  • Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey will be closed from March 14-29. Worship services will be livestreamed on March 15, 22 and 29.
  • The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has canceled all public programs, events and trainings in state parks and forests until the end of April. Overnight accommodations such as tent camping, cabins, and camping cottages will remain open. Evansburg, Fort Washington, and Norristown Farm Park in Montgomery County are currently closed to visitors for 14 days to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. With the exception of the closed state parks in Montgomery County, fishing will continue to be allowed at Pennsylvania state parks and forests.
  • The Downtowns and Municipalities Alliance Event, scheduled for March 18 in Mechanicsburg and sponsored by the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation and Visitors Bureau, has been postponed.
  • Easter on the Farm, scheduled for April 4 at the Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center in Kutztown, has been canceled.
  • Elizabethtown High School has has postponed the March 13 and 14 performances of “Shrek the Musical”.
  • The Ephrata Lions Club Sports Card Show scheduled for March 28 has been postponed to an unannounced future date.
  • First United Methodist Church in Hershey has canceled all church activities until March 15.
  • A March 26 lecture by David Ochmanek to the Foreign Policy Association of Harrisburg at the West Shore Country Club has been canceled.
  • Fredricksen Library and East Pennsboro Branch are closed until at least Sunday, March 29, due to the coronavirus outbreak.
  • A screening of the film “Frozen 2” scheduled for March 21 at Central Penn College has been canceled.
  • The Fulton Theatre has postponed the current production of the musical “Kinky Boots”. It will return to the stage Aug. 11-30.
  • The March 22 event with the Harlem Globetrotters at the Giant Center in Hershey has been postponed.
  • The Gamut Theatre in Harrisburg announced Thursday that it has postponed all public performances for the next 21 days and canceled all classes and rehearsals are canceled for the next 14 days, through March 28.
  • Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine has canceled all public events through April 30. The School of Medicine and Geisinger Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing (GLH) will deliver their entire classroom curricula online from March 16 to April 30.
  • Hampden Township will close the township office and other buildings from March 16 through April 2. Township business will be conducted by telephone and other electronic means during that time. All scheduled meetings or programs are cancelled until April 2.
  • Hanoverdale Church in Hummelstown has canceled its community meal scheduled for March 18.
  • Harrisburg Christian School has canceled the remaining three productions of its school musical, “The Sound of Music," scheduled for March 13 at 7 p.m. and March 14 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
  • The Harrisburg NRHS Train Show scheduled for March 14 at the I W Abel Union Hall in Steelton has been canceled.
  • The Harrisburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade, originally scheduled for March 21, has been canceled.
  • The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra has canceled its March 14 and 15 Masterworks performances at the Forum in Harrisburg.
  • Hawk Mountain Sanctuary will be closed for the next two weeks and all events up through March 30 have been canceled.
  • Heinz-Menaker Senior Center, 1824 North 4th Street, Harrisburg, is closed Monday – Friday until further notice.
  • Hershey’s Chocolate World will be closed March 16-29
  • Hershey Gardens and the Hershey Story museum will be closed March 16-30.
  • The Hershey Ministerium has cancelled its series of community Lenten services held 12:10 p.m. at various churches in Hershey and Hummelstown on Wednesdays, March 18 to April 8.
  • The following events at Hershey Theatre have either been canceled or postponed: Red Hot Chili Pipers, March 13; Brit Floyd, March 17-18; Hershey Symphony, March 21; Nate Bargatze, April 4. Check the Hershey Entertainment web site for details on refunds.
  • The High Center Forum with keynote speaker Simon Sinek scheduled for March 17 in Lancaster has been postponed to Sept. 21.
  • The Hummelstown Area Historical Society has canceled its March 16 meeting.
  • “Israel in Egypt,” St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral’s Music by the River concert, scheduled for March 28, has been canceled.
  • The Junior League of Harrisburg has postponed its “Here 4 Harrisburg” event scheduled for March 26 to a yet-to-be-determined date.
  • Keystone Theatrics in Boiling Springs has canceled performances of “Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat” scheduled for March 14 and 21. Patrons who have purchased tickets for either performance will be contacted with additional information and options. In addition, auditions for Hairspray Jr, which were scheduled for March 15 and 16, have been cancelled and the production of Hairspray Jr. will be postponed until fall 2020.
  • The Lancaster Science Factory will be closed March 14 and 15.
  • The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra has canceled its March 13 and 14 “Emperor” concerts. Ticket holders looking for a refund, should call the LSO box office at (717) 291-4420 or email mmaser@lancastersymphony.org.
  • The Lehigh Valley Auto Show and Gala, scheduled for March 19-22, has been postponed indefinitely.
  • Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square is closing for the rest of the month. All programs and events at Longwood Gardens have been canceled through April 22.
  • Lower Allen Township municipal building is closed beginning March 16 and the following two weeks. All business with the Township will be handled via email, telephone, mail, and the website www.latwp.org. Any business that must be conducted in person shall be done by appointment only. Please call (717) 975-7575 to set up an appointment. All other Board and Commission meetings will be canceled for 30 days beginning Monday, March 16.
  • The Luhrs Center in Shippensburg has canceled the Stylistics concert, scheduled for March 13, and the two “Mutts Gone Nuts” shows scheduled for March 14.
  • A lecture on coronovirus, scheduled for March 25 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Harrisburg, has been canceled.
  • Market Square Concerts has postponed its March 21 concert featuring the Polonsky-Shifrin-Wiley Trio. The event will be rescheduled to a later date.
  • The Mechanicsburg Museum has canceled two upcoming programs: “Flames Beyond Gettysburg” on March 15 and a cooking demo on March 21.
  • The Middle Creek Visitors Center, located at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster and Lebanon counties has been closed, effective immediately until the end of March. Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area public access areas and trails will remain open for public use and recreation.
  • The Millerstown 28th Annual Spring Fling Craft Show, scheduled for March 14, has been canceled.
  • Mohler Senior Center, 25 Hope Drive, Hershey, is closed Monday – Friday until further notice.
  • Mount Airy Casino Resort announced that it will be closed through Monday, March 30.
  • Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisberry is cancelling services and all activities from March 15 to 3-28. They will resume services March 29.
  • The Muncy Historical Society announced the cancelation of an event: Pat Jordan, from the Heritage Theatre Guild, will not perform her dramatic portrayal of Women’s League founder, Carrie Chapman Catt on March 16, as planned. The event is rescheduled for September 2020.
  • The Museum of the American Revolution will temporarily close March 14 through March 31. All scheduled programs and events during that time will be cancelled or postponed.
  • National Constitution Center will temporarily close March 14. Public programs through the end of March will also be postponed.
  • The North Museum of Nature & Science will be closed temporarily effective March 14. The goal is to reopen to the public as soon as safely possible, on or before April 4, 2020, but interested individuals are asked to experience the museum online during this time.
  • Open Stage in Harrisburg has suspended performances and classes this weekend (March 12-15).
  • The “Paint Me a Magic Bus” art program scheduled for March 14 at the AACA Museum in Hershey has been tentatively postponed to April 25.
  • The Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network (PLAN) Excellence Awards scheduled to be held on March 31st will be postponed to a yet undetermined time in the late summer or early fall.
  • Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, the Barnes Foundation, and The Franklin Institute have made the joint decision to temporarily close to the public and postpone or cancel public programming and events for a minimum of two weeks as of March 13.
  • All scheduled Philadelphia Orchestra rehearsals, performances and events have been canceled through March 23.
  • The PA/NJ Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation has announced its March 21 Spring Growers Meeting will be held as a webinar. The in-person meeting at Penn State Harrisburg in Middletown is canceled.

  • The Penn Museum in Philadelphia has announced they will temporarily close at least through April 17.
  • All Pennsylvania 4-H events and activities have been postponed until further notice.
  • The Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex has canceled all events scheduled there throughout the month of March.
  • The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission has closed all of its state-owned historic sites and museums, regardless of location, effective March 15 and extending through the end of March.
  • The Riverhouse Bar and Grill in Middletown has canceled the March 21 performance of the Knotwork Band. They will next perform at the restaurant on Sept. 5.
  • Rutherford House Center, 3300 Parkview Lane, Harrisburg, is closed Monday – Friday until further notice.
  • Rutter’s grand opening event for its new store, located at 1621 W. Cumberland St., Lebanon, and scheduled for March 18, has been indefinitely postponed.
  • St. John’s Episcopal Church has suspended worship and all parish activities until March 30. All activities in the church are to be cancelled.
  • The charity auction scheduled for March 14 at St. Thomas UCC in Linglestown has been cancelled. Contact 717-652-7259 for more details.
  • The 97th Scholastic Art and Writing Awards at Kutztown University, originally scheduled for March 22, has been canceled.
  • South Schuylkill Garden Club Meeting and Hypertufa Workshop on March 17 has been postponed for at least two weeks. A date for reschedule will be announced later.
  • A statewide student archery tournament scheduled to be held Friday, March 13, in State College has been canceled. The tournament is coordinated by the Game Commission through the National Archery in the Schools Program. More than 1,000 students were registered to take part.
  • The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg is closed until further notice.
  • The State Theater in State College has canceled or postponed the following events: The Met Opera on March 14th, canceled; Lady Grey March on March 14, canceled; Dweezil Zappa on March 15, rescheduled; “The Life & Time of Molly Ivins” on March 16th, rescheduled; The Next Stage: Celadine on March 19th-26th, canceled; State of State on March 21-22, canceled; Alumni Association on March 26-27, rescheduled; Land and Water Revisited on April 3, rescheduled; Jon Meacham on April 22, rescheduled.
  • Steelton Senior Center, 123 N. Front St., Steelton, is closed Monday – Friday until further notice.
  • Susquehanna Art Museum has canceled weekend classes.
  • Swatara Township municipal building will be closed beginning March 16 until further notice. Residents are encouraged to submit inquiries by email or phone. Payments can be submitted by mail or placed in the secured drop box located outside (no cash). Important phone numbers:

  • Central Dauphin School District and Penn State Health are postponing the Stop the Bleed training that was scheduled for March 13. A new date will be announced.
  • Tanger Outlets has announced it will close its outlets in Pittsburg, Lancaster and Hershey through, at least, March 27.
  • The Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce with the Downtown Carlisle Association has postponed the 20th annual Taste of Carlisle that was scheduled for March 15. A later date that will be determined in the near future.
  • A town hall debate on the convention of states scheduled for April 9 at the Frederick House in Carlisle has been canceled.
  • The Turkey Hill Experience in Columbia is closed through March 29. The Home School Day event, scheduled for March 18 has been postponed.
  • The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) is postponing public gathering events, such as its lectures, beginning on March 18 through April 7, subject to further review.  In addition, it will close our Visitor and Education Center and the Ridgway Hall Research Center to the public beginning on March 18 but will remain open for U.S. Army War College Faculty and Students. Its trail and outside exhibits remain open to the public.  
  • VolksFest 2020, scheduled for April 25 at Mount Hope Estate in Manheim has been cancelled.
  • West Shore Christian Academy is postponing its performances of “Beauty and the Beast,” previously scheduled for March 19 at 7 p.m., March 20 at 7 pm., and March 21 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • The Wednesday Club has canceled its March 15 concert at Grace United Methodist Church in Harrisburg, and its March 29 concert at St. Thomas UCC in Linglestown.
  • The Whitaker Center in Harrisburg has announced that it will be closed until March 20. The March 15 concert featuring Steve Hackett has been postponed.
  • Wormleysburg Borough Council will close its offices to the public through March 27. Borough staff will be available by phone at 717-763-4483 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m..
  • The Wormleysburg Riverfront Cleanup event has been rescheduled to 9 a.m. May 16 at Pine Street Park.
  • XL Live has postponed the Papadosio concert scheduled for March 13 and the Motet and Tauk concert scheduled for March 14.
  • The Yellow Breeches 48th Annual Outdoor Sports Show, scheduled for March 21 at the Carlisle PA National Guard Readiness Center has been cancelled.
  • York Mayor Michael Helfrich has postponed his “Vision of the City” address scheduled for March 26.
  • The York Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, scheduled for March 14, has been canceled.
  • Zenkaikon 2020 has been canceled. Anyone who purchased a membership for Zenkaikon 2020, or bought an artist alley or dealers room table, will be refunded in the coming weeks.
  • Zion Lutheran Church in Dauphin has canceled its March 14 dinner pot pie, March 15 worship service, and next week, its egg-making on Monday, as well as other activities through March 21.
