The number of coronavirus cases on Rutgers' football team has nearly doubled from 15 to 28.

The number of COVID-19 cases connected with the Rutgers University football team nearly has doubled from 15 to 28 players, plus multiple staff members, three people with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media on Monday night.

The three people requested anonymity because they have not been authorized to speak publicly about the situation. Rutgers athletics director Pat Hobbs and Scarlet Knights coach Greg Schiano were unavailable for comment Monday night.
