These men snuck into Six Flags safari during coronavirus lockdown. Stay out, cops warn.

Six Flags Trespassers

The Jackson Police Department issued a simple request for residents on Friday -- stay out of Six Flags Great Adventure during the coronavirus pandemic.

The amusement park announced last month that it had pushed back its opening day until at least mid-May because of the coronavirus pandemic, but that has not stopped people from sneaking inside, authorities said.

On Thursday, a 49-year-old man was issued a summons for defiant trespassing when he was caught on the property and told police that he was there to see the animals, according to Facebook post from the Jackson Police.

The same day, officers were told that two men were captured on park security cameras climbing over the fence and entering the safari property where they “potentially could have risked coming into direct contact with the safari animals,” Jackson Police Captain Steven Laskiewicz said in the post.

The incident happened on Tuesday just before 6 p.m. and the pair roamed around the property for about a half hour before leaving, police said.

The department released photos of the two men captured by the security cameras and anyone with information that could help identify them was asked to contact the police at 732-928-1111.

“We recommend that residents observe the Governor’s Executive Orders and stay at home, but if you do go outside, please remember to socially distance yourself from others,” Laskiewicz said. “If going out, please do not trespass onto Six Flags Adventure Property (or any others), as the park is closed at this time.”

Additional officers will be patrolling the area and police will investigate any further trespassing incidents and charge any individuals if the situations calls for them to do so.
