Never cheat. But if you must, cheat death.

Veteran Army Medic Garrett Wright narrowly escaped death more than once. Through the horrors of war, he witnessed the darkness and ugliness of humanity, and let it consume him from the inside out.

Stefanie Banks knows all too well how dark and ugly the world can be. She lives her life determined to make every moment better than the last.

In a dive bar in the middle of nowhere, Stefanie and Garrett’s worlds collide. Sunshine and darkness face off and sparks fly.

Can a war-torn soul and one who never felt loved trust one another enough to cheat the curveballs life throws at them and hold on to love enough to make it last the distance?

I would have rated this book higher if this book didn’t have what I hate.
There’s nothing more than I hate when hero calls the heroine a slut in the throes of passion. (I sound like a 70 year old woman) 😂
This hero called the heroine “his nasty little slut and his fuckslut”. Yep, these words ruined everything for me. He only called her the first time they had sex but once was enough for me. No woman should be disrespected ever or even during sex. It felt like I was reading a poor cheesy scene of a porn movie. It was just ridiculous.

Hero said that it has been long time for him without sex. But it was only 6 months. That’s not a lot of time. For me, long time is years. Men in books think they deserve a gold medal because they go without sex for a couple of months meanwhile the heroines go for years, YEARS!!

I also got a whiplash from the hero, at first he kept telling the heroine that he was all in, that it was a two way street, that he wanted more from her but his thoughts were saying another thing. He lied to her. If he really didn’t want to have a relationship with her then he should have been honest with her. It took time and I mean the whole the book for him to admit to her that he was in love with her.
She was like a poor puppy following him, she kept telling him that she loved him all the time and he never told her that he loved her too. Oh but he sure did wanted to hear her confessions of love, at some point he was upset because she hadn’t told him that she loved him for a week.

Now the heroine was too pathetic for him. Nothing else to say about her.

Their age difference is big too. Hero is 38 years old and she’s only 26

The real hero for me was Kip, the old man who took in a 11 year old girl, a child that wasn’t his, he protected her and kept her fed when everyone didn’t want her. He was the real hero. Their relationship was cute and funny.

I’ll probably skip the next book because I hate when heroes go to sex clubs. At least that’s what i read in the teaser.

Safety: No cheating of any kind. No OW/OM. Hero was a bit jealous of heroine’s friends.

Loved Garrett and Stef's story!
A man stricken with so many demons from his past. An Army medic veteran with survivors guilt.. A strong feisty woman that is also a survivor in her own world. When Garret lets a drunken night in a bar turn into a self inflicted beating by a few local punks a hero steps in to save him.
Stef has no idea why this man is allowing this to happen to himself but she can't shake the feeling that she needs to help.
She takes him in and nurses him back. The realization that she sacrificed her own safety and Garrett feels undeserving but soon a bond attraction and connection is built. Can you Cheat the life that you have laid out for your self and maybe find that happily ever after .
Such a heart wrenching , soul barring story that will drag you in and make you feel for these wonderfully broken characters that are just trying to keep to keep their heads above water.
I truly love this series and this amazing cast of characters.

Garrett can't escape from himself. Survivors guilt and the trauma of serving in the military, not to mention how he has treated his family, torment him. One night after too much alcohol at a dive bar, he allows several punks to beat him up. Lucky for him, a ray of sunshine named Stefanie shows up in the nick of time. Stef can't stop herself, she has to help this guy. When he won't go to the hospital, she takes him home and cares for him. When he sneaks out, she figures that is that. Her past experience has taught her that no one stays with her, why should he be any different? When Garrett can't get Stef off his mind, he returns. Will he be able to overcome his demons and Stef's or will he run from his feelings?

Mayra Statham is a phenomenal author, bar none! She is on my automatic-pre-order-immediately-don't-bother-to read-the-blurb list. She has the ability to write the sweetest, sexiest, most emotional romances ever! I literally had to stop reading this book several times as my heart hurt so much for Stef and Garrett. So battered by life and lonely, they needed each other so much. I hadn't read the previous two books in the Right Men series so I will be rectifying that very soon. That said, I had no trouble diving into Cheat. If you enjoy Kristen Ashley or Harper Sloan you are gonna love Mayra Statham! Six stars for Cheat!

I found this author because she did stories I could relate too because her characters were older and wiser and in situations that involved grown up. I know I know. I stayed with her because her characters had layers, even if it was an insta love read they had to battle for their hea. This series is solidly that and this book, this couple, is a prime example.

Garrett is an ass, well he is a vet and the sole survivor of a roadside bomb, the guy who was in charge and he held his best friend as he died. He's angry, dark and bitter, and on his face after letting 3 guys beat him down when she rescues him. These two together bring a healing and a completion to all the things they were searching for but easy isn't in their vocabulary. There are times you won't like Garrett, I mean you have to dig deep to understand him even if you don't like him. We see parts of him we had to see so we could understand the difference he and Stefanie make together once she could accept that there really was someone out there that would love her and not throw her away. Together they would cheat the darkness and fight for the sunshine and their hea.

Book 1 Lie Book 2 Steal Book 3 Cheat
All interconnected Reads that could be read as standalones but you’d miss out on the characters popping up in each book.
Garrett was a bit of a douche in previous encounters in the series and this book shows us why.
He was seriously messed up from the military and still suffers trying to be the man he was, the man he thinks his family want him to be, only that’s all him, his family just want him and are thankful to still have him
Stef is fabulous, seriously fabulous sweet amazing amusing humorous loyal
I loved her from the start, my heart broke for her younger self and am amazed at her tenacity and strength. She found a father and protector in Kip and brother figure in Bash ( I would have liked a bit more of Bash tbh to show that bond )
Stef was an instant hit with Garrett’s family and I found her selfless risking hurt and loss after knowing so much cruelty so young she risked her heart for love
for her HEA
The trust she had made this book for me.
I would have liked a few more details of Garrett’s war issues to fully get him
I felt I got to know Stef a lot more than I was able to get Garrett
Looking forward to reading about Donnie in the next book in the series.
I have to say Book 1 Lie is definitely my favourite read of mine

Oh my goodness this book was AMAZING. Such a beautiful love story, but so much more. One of my favorite things about Mayra’s books is that she doesn’t give too much away about her characters until you read their story so it’s not repetitive. I am a big fan of Mayra’s books, but this was definitely my absolute favorite. This book had all the feels. You really got to understand why Garrett and Stefanie’s story and what made them how they were. It was so real. It showed that life isn’t easy but anything can be achieved if you want it badly enough. It showed that there are many types of families, not just the ones you are born into. It showed that people aren’t always what they seem, so don’t be so quick to judge. You can read this as a stand-alone but you are going to want to read the 2 previous books. Five stars isn’t nearly enough

Mayra Statham will forever be one of my favorite authors because every single one of her stories is an all consuming read. Her talent keeps growing and Cheat has risen up to my number one favorite of hers.

Garrett Wright is seen in the other two books Lie and and Steal. You won’t really like him those stories but you will be intrigued. And now you’ll get the full understanding of his story. And what an emotional one it is. Stefanie is his perfect match and their interactions will have you swooning. Stefanie is a awesome character and I’d like to grow up and be like her one day.

We follow as these two fight their demons and let their walls down. And when they do you better watch out because it’s a phenomenal story. You will laugh, cry and swoon with Cheat.

Highly recommended.

Another amazing book in the Right Men series by Mayra Statham. This is the story of Garrett and Stefanie. Garrett was never one of my favorites from the glimpses we got in Lie and Steal. But I think I fell in love with him in this one! Getting more of his background lets you see why he is the way he is. Stefanie is wonderful. They both have their pasts. I just love them together. I felt the emotion in this book. I cried some, I laughed, I smiled a lot. I was so excited for this book because though i love all of Mayra Statham's books, this is my favorite series of hers. I loved it! Can't wait for the next book in the series.

In the previous books of this series, Lie #1 and Steal #2, Garrett was a total douche. A lost and broken soul who was struggling with inner demons and he was on a path to destruction. Cheat #3 is his and Stefanie's story.

Stefanie was Garrett's ray of sunshine. She was slowly peeling back the layers to reveal the real Garrett. A man filled with guilt due to the military. A man who was afraid to feel. A man who could make you swoon.

Stepfanie had a horrible childhood, but that didn't stop her from wearing her heart on her sleeve. Strong and sassy is just what the doctor ordered for Garrett. Such an amazing woman.

I can't wait to read Donnie's story.

I loved this book. Ive been wanting this one for a while now and it didn't disappoint. I love the characters. I loved the story line. I think these guys are my most favorite couple in a long time.
This is the 3rd book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. It will leave you wanting to go back and see the stories that you missed .
There is NO CHEATING in this book the title comes from a quote at the beginning of the book. "Never Cheat. But if you must, cheat death"

Five freaking beautiful stars.

What a story. Stef has issues, Garret definitely has issues and together they are perfectly broken.

I adored this story. It can be read as a standalone but no way can you really grasp the family of garret without reading the others too. Garret's story starts before Cheat. Stef is kickass and I love her so much too. Who doesn't want some sunshine in their lives.

Now I have to wait for more from this series but I know it will be worth every minute.
Mayra Statham is such a talented storyteller.

Garrett you brooding, selfish man! I want to smack you upside the head just like your gramma Nicola did!
You're lucky Stef was a kickass woman and kept you around.
Seriously.

I love a stubborn, self-depraving man! Garrett absolutely falls into this category, but absolutely redeems himself. I enjoyed reading about Garrett, catching up with the other brothers, and now, waiting for the last "brother's" story!!

Great job Mayra! But what I really want is a story about Stef's BFF Sebastian!

This group of men and their families are amazing! Garrett is a tortured soul but when he meets sassy Stefanie (with an f not a ph) he finds someone not only unafraid to call him on his bs but also someone who sees him, not as who he was before going to war but for who he is now. You have to experience this couple and fall in love with the Wright brothers and of course their give em hell grandma, Nicola.

Wow! Amazing!
No one ever said life was easy or fair. Life certainly wasn't easy for Stefanie but that didn't stop her from living. She fought and struggled for everything she had and came out a stronger person because of it. Life definitely wasn't fair for Garrett but he also never quit living, in fact one might say he cheated death. Though his inner demons still haunted him, he tried not to let them take over. He was drawn to Stefanie, but felt he didn't deserve her. Stefanie also felt a connection with Garrett. She was hesitant to let her guard down, because she didn't have many people that cared about her. They always left. As she grew closer to Garrett, she knew she wanted to give the relationship her all and hoped Garrett felt the same. Was Garrett all in, or would his fears push him away from her?

Garrett Wright has come to realize that some of his choices may not have been wise ones. Stefanie Banks is one of those people that will help those that can’t help themselves. She has a man in her life that may not be related to her by blood but that doesn’t stop him from really caring about her. Kip may be a secondary character but he’s very important to the flow of the story.

There’s a scene toward the beginning where Garrett divulges something – it made me feel so sorry for him. The scene felt so real you’ll have no trouble feeling his emotions. Then Stefanie reveals some things from her past and that just made me sad all over again. But on the whole this is a feel good story. There are ups and downs but some relationships go through that. There might have been a time or two when I wanted to get mad at Garrett – I might have gotten a little protective of Stefanie. If I had to pick something to compare him to it would be a steamroller – watch out when he picks up speed. That’s the point where you won’t want to put the book down.

I have not read this author before and I think this was the perfect book to start my love affair. You want a book that’s going to pull at your heartstrings and this is one that will do that. She’s either very good in her research or she’s had some personal experience. This is a book that could be read as a standalone. But if you’re like me, you already have one, or maybe even both, of the other titles in this series either in your library or on your TBR list. Our author leaves us with a teaser – one more book to add to my ever-growing library. Sad news is that I have to wait until next year.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Omg.. this book!!

I loved all the books in this series especially Lies, but this one.., this one was truly the most emotional one for me. This one is my favorite by far!

Garrett started out as such an awful person in the first book, but I felt he redeemed himself at the end of it. I loved him in this book... SPOILERS AHEAD

First of all.. I absolutely loved Stefanie. I have read hundreds of romance novels and she is one of my favorite heroines. Her childhood was so heartbreaking and for her to come out of it the way she did was inspiring. Thank God for Kip—he was such an awesome character. I loved every scene he was in. I’m so grateful he took Stefanie in when she was younger.

Anyway, it was gonna take someone special to make Garrett fall, because man was he a cranky SOB, but Stefanie was it. I loved the way their relationship evolved and the trust she put in him. I KNEW he was gonna hurt her (emotionally) somehow. I felt myself bracing for it through the entire book. And when it happened it was so gut wrenching. God how my heart broke for her. —And for him, but mostly I was furious at him for walking away from her—especially after she told him in the beginning “no one keeps me”. Those words haunted me through out this.

He has serious stuff to work through and luckily he does and then he needs to somehow win Stefanie back. She makes him work for it and rightfully so— but it was amazing to read and I absolutely loved it!!

Garrett had already made me so sad for him throughout the rest of this series, so I was happy when he finally met his match in Stefanie. Stef grew up in foster care and has made her life into something safe and stable, but a chance meeting with a broken man who wants to be punished for surviving puts her on the path to so much more. She gives her all over and over and, while Garrett loves her (but can’t say it) and wants to give everything he can in return, the only thing she wants is his love and trust.

Garrett and Stef both have healing to do, and both of them heal so much better with each other than they’ve done alone, but ego and pride keep Garrett from admitting that. It takes Garrett truly messing up and walking away because he thinks he’s unworthy to decide to really work to win Stef back, and she definitely does the reader proud by making him work to prove that he’s not just playing a game. Stef remains strong and giving and loving, even when she wants to break, and her strength helps Garrett finally see the truth of what they can have in life.

While I still maintain that Lie is my favorite of this series, Garrett sure gives his brother a run for his money. I’m so glad that this story did Garrett justice and that he found his perfect match in Stef.

I'm so inlove with this book. I have adored this family since LIE. Garrett was a wildcard for me. I didn't know if I could like him. If he had a good Side after what I had seen....
I should have known if anyone could help redeem him it was Mayra. Once again this woman that very ppl know about has Wowed me beyond measure. Mayra Statham I should say you a best kept secret but it's unfair that your sweet beautiful Love stories don't reach enough ppl. I hope Sweetheart that changes. It's a crime that such amazing writing is not known...

This story was beautifully written about these two broken characters. Stefanie and Garrett broken by their pasts coming together and healing each other with love and understanding was the most amazing thing I have seen. Watching Garrett fight and heal this broken girls soul was awe- inspiring. He was a knight in shining armour with some kinks in it definitely but he was lucky she was just as patient and understanding. These two were mature and didn't hold anything back. I Loved that about them....
Nicola was at her peak this time around. You can't help adoring the old Coot.

Read this beautiful written love story. It's a perfectly woven fairy tale
Enjoy!!!!

✯✯5 Garrett Filled Stars!!!✯✯

Finally!!! Ever since I read Lie I’ve wanted to get my greedy hands on Garrett. No lie I’ve stalked Mayra and every time she announces her next release and it wasn’t Garrett I died a little lol. I can’t help it I’m obsessed with Garrett and his brothers. Damn these Wright Brothers.

Garrett might be home in one piece from the military. But, the military followed him home and he’s lost pieces of himself. He’s not the man, brother, son or grandson he was when he left. Garrett has seen guys he looks at as his brothers die in his arms. He’s got survivors guilt.

Garrett has verbally attacked his family and his brothers girlfriend. Garrett goes into a little dive bar and he’s at the bottom of his barrel. When he gets into it with a few punks he lets them attack him. No joke he doesn’t fight back. Garrett wants his battle to finally end. Except a light finally shows up into his life for the first time in awhile.

Stefanie isn’t going to let this guy get beat up to a pulp. She doesn’t know anything about him but she knows anybody who doesn’t fight back while getting beat up by multiple guys he’s gotta be fighting some pretty bad demons.

Stefanie promises her boss/father figure Kip she’ll drop the guy off at the ER. Except his begs her not too and instead brings him back to her apartment. Stefanie helps him until he sneaks out of her apartment. She thought that was the last time she’d ever the beautiful man. Until he shows back up letting her know he couldn’t get her out of his mind.

Garrett isn’t the only one with demons. Stefanie didn’t have an easy childhood. Luckily she found Kip whose the closest to a father she’s had and Bash who has taken on the role of her brother.

Stefanie just wants to be loved. She’s tired of the people in her life leaving her. Stef wants to be somebody’s #1.

Things aren’t easy for Stefanie and Garrett. But, these two beautiful people are fighters and they never give up until they get what they want.

I was so glad to see the rest of the Wright family. ESP Garrett’s grandma!!! She’s been a favorite of mine since reading Lie . But, I ESP love the relationship she has with Garrett. It reminded me of my nane and how she was always there to give me advice and an ass whooping and it didn’t matter if I asked for it. That was the Wright Brothers grandma and I truly loved her for it.

I’ve wanted to get inside Donnie’s mind for awhile now. He might seem stuck up and snooty but he’s got a wild kinky side to him. And, in Lie he had eyes for Grace’s sister. They’re next and I can’t wait!!!!!

I'm also hoping for a book for Bash. He's intense and I want more of him and learn why he's the way he is.

Loved it

This is a little longer than I normally read and an unknown Author, so big risk for me. But I really liked Mayra's contribution to the Valor MC series and so went looking to see what else she'd written. I found this. It's apparently the 3rd in a series, but it sounded like a good one, and I was not disappointed! This was so good. Garrett was a mess and I hurt for Stefanie everytime his actions messed with her head. She'd already had a lifetime of people not keeping her. I'm thankful for the dual p.o.v. because it kept me from never hating Garrett. I'm glad Stefanie had a backbone and didn't behave like a doormat. They both had some issues, Garretts quite severe, ptsd is complicated. I gathered he was a much disliked character in the previous 2 books, caused a lot of damage... I would say he had redeemed himself based on what I read here. I'm going to go back and read the others so I can see what I missed❤ this is a pretty safe story. Neither did anything irredeemable, no cheating, not with others after meeting and a sweet HEA. Oh, and Kip is amazing!!!

Whilst Garrett's brothers come across as confident and a touch arrogant at times, which comes out in their stories, Garrett is a lot less sure of himself despite the impression he gives.

Garrett has returned from battle as the only survivor of an attack with survivor's guilt and feelings of unworthiness. This results in the destructive behaviours we saw in 'Lie'.

Stef's heart is guarded from issues in her own past and has her own trust issues. She hasn't let her past corrupt her happy personality.

When they meet, light and dark collide but the chemistry is off the charts. Stef is willing to open her heart to the possibilities but Garrett is so guarded.

This was a grittier read than the two previous books in this series. It felt more real and I found myself connecting more with this brother. It was a beautiful read that completely sucked me in to its story.

I absolutely loved this latest book in the Right Men Series!! Garrett has a lot of demons after being in the military. As a army medic he has seen a lot and survived things that are unimaginable. He has a lot of guilt from his time over there and tries to drown his demons in alcohol. Stefanie has her own demons as well. She has grown up in the foster care system and has made it her goal to make her life better than her childhood was. They meet by chance one night at a bar....Stefanie was there to help him out. Their attraction to each other was instant and they couldn't fight the draw that kept bringing them together. Can they both tear down their walls they spent forever building up to take a chance on a forever love. OMG this book.....gave me all the feels. I was hooked from the very beginning and hated to see it end. It was a phenomenal story and one that I highly recommend. I can't wait to see what this talented author comes out with next....well done!!!

Wow Doesn't Even Cover It

This book took my emotions on a rollercoaster ride and I loved every moment of it! I am forever grateful to my friend for the recommendation because this book dug deep and hit hard.

I LOVED how strong, dedicated and determined Stef was. Her back story was enough to make most people give up and turn to the darker side of life, but not Stef...she went out and shined!

Garrett was battle scarred inside and out and his self doubt and hate was getting the better of him...but he really didn't stand a chance when Stef decided to sprinkle a bit of sunshine in his life.

Yes their relationship has ups and downs, starts and stops but its the whys and the how they fixed it each time that pulled me in and grabbed my heart. Two scared people putting their hearts out there never is a straight line to HEA but it's often the fight to the HEA that makes it all the sweeter.

Garrett intrigued me from book one. He was a bit of a douche in book one but began to redeem himself, in my opinion, in book two. So when I saw that he was getting his own story, I was mega excited!

Garrett was an army medic, and is suffering from mega survivors guilt throughout this story. My heart broke for him and the things he must have seen. Stefani grew up in care, with pretty much nothing to her name. She is younger than Garrett but from the beginning you can see she is exactly what Garrett needs.

Garrett story was written beautifully, the author cleverly wrote it with care. One part in particular had me emotionally gripped. The was Stef was there for him without question, I only wish everyone that had been to war had someone like her.

Beautiful story and I'm so excited for the next one!

Garret

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review***

I have waited so long for this book and I must say it was more than I anticipated. Garret the older brother in the Wright series is the one you have always been rooting for but didn’t think he would succeed. He’s the brooding one that you never thought would have his HEA. Too many demons having been chasing him but one rescue from a woman who you would have not seen stumbled into his life. Stefanie has her own demons in life never once thinking she’s good enough but knows nothing will hold her back, she will always live her life to the fullest. The pair can’t stay away from each other and it’s worth watching. Mayra’s put everything she had in this book and it’s well worth it. I adored it and you will too!!!

In book one, I hated Garrett. Then he redeemed himself.

In book two, I began to fall for Garrett. I wanted to heal him myself.

In book three, I fell head over heels for Garrett. I never wanted this book to end.

Mayra, the weaver of words, told the kind of story you should never pass up. Between Stef and Garrett, my heart filled with so many emotions. I've thought about this book multiple times a day and relived their story two already.

Garrett is the kind of man I want to write. He's an asshole with so much of himself craving love, acceptance and happiness.

Well played Mayra...
