“Gripping, romantic, sensuous and astute.”

"New women's fiction that touches all of our emotions, fulfills our yearnings, and opens up new possibilities."

Can Rachel and James find their way back into each other’s hearts after tasting temptation and facing devastating news? How strong is love in the face of reality? The seven year marriage between Rachel and her adoring patient saint of a husband has grown from great to blessed. But after years of failing to get pregnant all Rachel craves is a baby.

Her marriage to James is perfect…until she bumps into her sexy ex-lover, Brandon. Her desperate thought of wondering if he can get her pregnant makes Rachel realize that something has to change. After having more fertility tests she meets a beautiful pregnant career woman. It seems destined, and as they bond the young woman offers Rachel a gift that will change all their lives.

But has Rachel pushed her suddenly aloof husband away? Is it really his pressure at work or is he keeping something from her? Can they ever become a happy family, or is it too little too late? And where does Brandon come into all this when she discovers her husband's biggest betrayal?

Accidentally re-read it and it didn't get better. I hate when I do this.

First read

There was no physical cheating of any kind. There was temptation to do it on both people's parts but the didn't act on it. I didn't like reading about the hero getting a hard on for the OW and having a sex dream about her but at least he didn't touch her or kiss her. She tried and showed up at his room but he turned her down because he loved his wife they always had sex with the intent to make a baby so he was frustrated but I didn't like reading about that but he never kissed her or anything. The heroine just thought maybe the ex could get her pregnant but again there was no cheating. Physically. Over all just an average read.

Thanks to my friend Cindy for pointing out that there are two versions of this book on SCRIBD. In one of them, the author took out the physical cheating. I read the other one. I wanted all the angst. *laughs while crying*

I'm not rating this book because I'm so mad, I'd only be vindictive. The positives about this book: the angst was killer-good, and the writing was engaging...which is why I felt so pissed at the hero. The author evoked some extreme emotions in me. Incredibly devastating emotions caused by the hero (he's not my hero). I was seething over all his thoughts and actions. Utterly heartbreaking. I could NOT get past it. I'm still burning hot from how mad I am. Did he grovel? Yes, and I must admit he did relatively well in that regard, but it still wasn't enough to rid me of any of the negative feelings. I did appreciate the heroine's reaction. She wasn't passive, accepting or just simply hurt. She was crushed, of course, but she was also indignant and angry and reacted accordingly. I liked those scenes, immensely. She stayed bitter for about 4 months before she started letting the hero back in. Again, it wasn't enough for me because I wanted to read more about the hero's desperation from his PoV. I felt it was glossed over somewhat, more telling than showing and RUSHED. I mean, don't give me every single detail and nuance regarding the emotional cheating and the physical act, but then skimp on the aftermath, on the grovel. I sure felt her pain, but where was his comeuppance? I wanted to see him bleed! *LOL* After what he did, I don't think it's unreasonable to want him to prove he deserved a second chance. Maybe I would have been content if the heroine ended up with the other man instead.

I do not want to talk about them adopting the baby he had with the other woman. OR how the heroine made her godmother to said child. I can't even.

For readers who love their rage-reads, this is perfect.

Edit: the version I read is some kind of WIP file. I didn't care, though. As choppy as it was, I was still able to follow the story just fine. Also, there's a parallel storyline with the heroine's sister which I skipped entirely.

Just an ok read. James and Rachel seem to have a solid marriage, yet the potential to cheat on each other is revealed as the story begins. The couple are trying to conceive, but after 7 years their fertility challenges remain. Add to the story an ex that surfaces, a sexy young colleague at work, friends recently divorced, a troubled sibling and a mom/MIL who keeps asking for grandchildren. It felt like there were too many independent story line aspects that did not really tie into or enhance the main plot around James and Rachel’s marriage crisis. As well, I was a bit unsure about how Lauren and her situation would realistically fit into this plot. Part of me thinks that several boundaries of realism were pushed, which made it hard for me as a reader to relate to and empathize with several of the characters. James is portrayed as saint. Rachel comes across as down to earth yet insecure and suspicious most of the time. Lauren is depicted as mostly selfless in many of her thoughts and actions. I have no idea what Amy brought to the story. Perhaps this novel was too over the top around fertility issues and the relationship turmoil around it for me. I found it also interesting that there was a strong moral undercurrent about staying true to your marriage and seeking guidance from god while themes of infidelity, broken marriages and lack of trust emerged regularly. While it was nice to see a HFN ( I think) ending, it was not as satisfying a read as I hoped. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

I didn’t know where this story would end up until the very end. The suspense definitely made up for some of the repetitive conversations.

I have read an introductory ARC sample of this book.
From what I have read this book is really good.
Rachel and James are happily married but are having infertility issues.
It is well written and does well delving into the cracks that can appear gradually in a relationship.
Rachel has temptation from her ex and James it seems may have interest from a coworker. Both James and Rachel are happy with each other and have no intention of cheating or looking else where. But the issue of infertility is wearing hard on them.
As it's only a sample I can only comment on what I've read but it does seem to present the issues in a realistic way, these things grow slowly through inadequacies and we face choices how to proceed.
I am looking forward to finding out what happens.

I'm only nine chapters into this book which makes it difficult to review. That being said, 'Nobody's Baby But Mine' is leading the reader into an emotional roller coaster. We've got temptation galore. We see everyday life issues front and center and how each character responds can change the course of their lives.

Mentioned early is a best friend's marriage falling apart due to cheating. I found it interesting how JT (main character/husband) responds to that news when Rachel (JT's wife) tells him about their friends problems. He immediately seems to blame his friend's wife for 'maybe' not meeting hubby's needs. Tsk, tsk. That made me cautious about JT.

Rachel, who desperately wants a baby, can't conceive. She and JT are very much in love... but remember what I said about 'Temptation'? Well, it rears it's ugly head. It's interesting how each respond. You've heard of those wandering eyes and roving hands.... well JT's eyes sure to wander when it comes to a co-worker who is not subtle in her desire to claim him.

Rachel, on the other hand, handles her temptation differently... An ex, who never has gotten over losing Rachel, seeks her out in a business deal. She makes it clear that she is married and knows it's best to keep her distance. Was she tempted? Yes. But she refuses to yield to temptation and does things to distance herself from her ex, including turning over her client's business to her boss.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this all comes together. Rachel seems to turn her back on temptation, JT does not. I'm wanting to see choices made and how those choices impact and affect others. There always is collateral damage. BTW, Rachel's ex seems genuinely to care about her. JT's co-worker is career driven and doesn't care who she uses to get to the top and seems to being eyeing him to give her a boost. Let's hope JT wises up before it's too late!

Well written and emotional, I was able to identify with this book on so many levels. Having traveled the road of infertility, miscarriages and the desperation to have a child of my own, the author's insights into Rachel's state of mind are amazing. Struggling to fall pregnant is, for the most part, a very private affair, but after a while it becomes obvious to those around us that there are “issues”. James' insensitive mother brought about a strong reaction in me, together with the feelings of not being good enough. The temptation to have a child at any price, the blinkered approach to one's marriage that if only there was a child they could experience fulfillment, the dreadful and sometimes painful medical procedures, are just some of the difficulties facing childless couples. Rachel and James eventually reach that point where they have to make choices about their future, and even that is taking a risk. Although the book does come to a happy and satisfying conclusion, I nevertheless felt as if a mechanical grader had gone over my soul, leaving me feeling vulnerable and emotional, but grateful for the blessings I enjoy. I liked this book very much. Though it is fiction, the subject of the story is true and the way the main characters, Rachel and James (JT) is very accurate too. Rachel wants to be a Mother so bad she can taste it. She is going through test after test to find out why she is unable to get pregnant. She and her husband are doing everything they can to get pregnant. She can’t understand why it is so easy for other women to have children but she can’t. She and JT love each other dearly; but every thing they have gone through to try to have a baby has taken its toll on their marriage. They still love each other but because of hurt and lack of communication there is a bit of a rift between them. They have a chance to adopt but because of their lack of communication they are not sure if it’s a real possibility. I know this is real because my first wife went through the same thing and had very similar feelings to those describe in this book for both Rachel and JT. I thought story was well written. The book is referred to as “Women’s Fiction.” However the infertility and other difficulties that many couples face is very much a family issue and affects both men and women, husbands and wives.

I received a free partial ARC for this review

Based on the blurb, there’s cheating involved. Infidelity storylines always gets me antsy and intrigued. So far, I’m engaged in the reading. It’s nerve wrecking from the start like they’ve been driven to madness as both Rachel and James are frustrated and obsessed. After years of no pregnancy and dying to start a family, Rachel is hopelessly disappointed and desperate. James is so self-righteous about his honor and fidelity that he’s doomed to set himself up for hypocrisy. To both these characters, “doth protest too much, me thinks”.

They communicate and comfort each other, yet internalize their deepest fears. The reality is that they’re lying to themselves and weakening their resolve. Anything worth having takes hard work to achieve and maintain. Marriage is no different. Who’s going to quit first?

I’m hoping for a good groveling and verbal smacking and praying that Rachel doesn’t shoulder the faults and blame. Seems like the OW POV is included, which I’ll look forward to.

Wow! I totally loved and enjoyed every second spent reading this book. It's so engrossing and hard to put down. It's also quite emotional.
Rachel and James have been happily married for some years now, and she's eager to have her baby and build a family but her hopes are being dashed everytime. Faced with this problem and the pressure from her husband's work, her marriage is under serious strain, also temptation reared its ugly head in the name of Brandon, her ex and Lauren her husband's co-worker. Will they be able to overcome all these their challenges and live happily ever after? Find out by grabbing your own copy. "I received this book for free from eBook discovery. An emotional page turner

This book sucked me in from the beginning and kept me reading until the end. Rachel and James met and he knew she was his soul mate. They marry and things are going great until they have trouble getting pregnant. James has a new, very attractive employee that goes on a trip with him. Does James stray? Rachel’s ex-lover Brandon also returns to town. Does she stray? I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say this beautifully written book will not disappoint you. I also loved who turned out to be Rachel’s best friend ever. I was rooting for Rachel and James and I was so happy with the ending. Grab your copy and get ready to fall in love with this book.

Nobody's Baby But Mine

It took me a while to read this book. At first I thought it was about betrayal. But no. It was about two people who married for seven years. Who wanted to add to their life children. But they both had issues. She had a medical condition. His was low sperm count. I know but bear with me here. During this time her ex comes back into the picture. He spends most of his time at work and travelling. There is more to the story and I would be giving you the whole story line if I keep going. Just note I was wrong in not reading this two years ago.

This is the first book I have read by Gloria and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story line was so gripping and full of emotion. The ups and downs between Rachel and JT and how they handle
the crisis of their failing communication and interference with Lauren and Brandon in their marriage was so true to life and authentic. I look forward to reading more by Gloria. Definitely on my to read list. I voluntarily received an arc for my honest review.

The first 9 chapters of this book were so good. It had you wanting more. It is worth reading and seeing how the whole book turns out. I hope to be able to read it soon but in my opinion it's going to be simply amazing. It can't help but feel for the couple and hope that things don't get in the way. For what I was able to read I give it 4.5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

Emotionally compelling through the end!!!

This book is a compelling, gripping, gut-wrenching, emotional story of secrets, fear, lack of trust, suspected betrayals, heartbreak, infertility and suppressed memories all woven into an umbrella story of friendship, love and ultimately joy. I dare anyone to read this without "feeling!". This is my first book from Gloria Silk and I cannot wait to read another.

2 versions. One seems to be a WIP. In that version the scumbag cheated and got the whore pregnant while his wife struggles with infertility. In the finished version, he stays true, the OW gets pregnant by other employee. Not realizing there were 2 versions, I originally read the WIP and nope, no way in hell. He does a mental fist pump when the OW tells him she’s pregnant, happy he finally got a woman pregnant. What a POS. h should never have forgiven him. And the ending…trash.

When I first started reading this book I didn't think I was going to like it. Well how wrong was I. It's really good. Different from what I've been reading a lot of lately but really kept my interest and I didn't want to stop reading until the very end. The situation that happens in the book was written very well and showed a side to the characters that mirrored real life.

What a great, full on emotions love story. Communication is key when going through what JT and Rachel went through. Loved the strong, but flexible love between them and how their compassion for others showed in their daily lives. There were plenty of unexpected twists and turns to keep the reader's interest. Highly recommend this story!

This book started out fast paced and had an array of interesting characters. After a quarter of the way in, it began too drag. There were some slight romantic twists, but it just never picked my interest back up like it did at the beginning. The ending was a wonderful feel good wrap up happy time.
