In honor of National Volunteer week, 148 Smithfield team members donated more than 350 hours to alleviating hunger, supporting youth and enhancing the environment in their local communities.

Smithfield Foods helped take a bite out of hunger in our local community this week as we sponsored "Tastefully Yours" for the tenth year in a row. This annual fundraising event for the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank raised enough to provide 450,000 meals to our neighbors in need facing food insecurity.

Smithfield is proud to support our military families through volunteerism, charitable donations and partnerships under our Helping Our Heroes program and Employee Business Resource Group, Smithfield Salutes. This month, in honor of "Month of the Military Child", we donated coupons, bags and activity packets to General Stanford Elementary School in Newport News, VA. Giving to our veterans and their families is a top priority for us.

At Smithfield Foods, our people and the development of our workforce are prioritized through our diversity pipeline programs. In fact, the second cohort of our Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), engaging team members interested in becoming operations supervisors, has graduated. ELP participants are frontline team members selected to participate in monthly e-learning classes and one-on-one coaching sessions with a mentor to enhance their skillsets and knowledge of our company and industry.
