CLEVELAND, Ohio — Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor earned the No. 10 ranking from MLB Network in its annual Top 100 Players Right Now show that aired Thursday night. Lindor slipped six spots this season after checking in at No. 4 last year.
The 27-year-old infielder is first among five Indians players in the top 100, followed by Mike Clevinger (47), José Ramírez (50), Shane Bieber (58) and Carlos Santana (86).
Last year, Lindor ranked No. 4 behind Nolan Arenado of Colorado and one spot ahead of Max Scherzer of Washington. This season, Lindor is again behind Arenado at the No. 10 spot, one place in front of Nationals OF Juan Soto.
Lindor was second on the Indians with a 4.7 bWAR last season, trailing only All-Star MVP Bieber (4.9 bWAR).
MLB Network’s Top 100 Players Right Now, hosted by Greg Amsinger, Sean Casey and Ron Darling, based its rankings on player performance over the past several seasons, with an emphasis on 2019 and projected 2020 performance. Base-running, defensive value and award finishes were all taken into account when evaluating players, including those returning from injury.
