CLEVELAND, Ohio – Basketball fans around the globe just witnessed one heck of an NBA All-Star Game last weekend, while sneakerheads got a look at some of the hottest shoes coming their way over the next several weeks.
LeBron James used the first half of Sunday’s game as an opportunity to show off his “Monstars” Nike LeBron 17 shoe from “Space Jam 2.” But he switched things up in the second half, debuting “Mr. Swackhammer,” a shoe that pays homage to the franchise’s main villain.
The “Mr. Swackhammer” comes in neon green, blue, pink and other vibrant colors, as well as scales to mimic the character’s look in the movie. “Space Jam 2” hits theaters in July 2021.
The Nike LeBron 17 “Mr. Swackhammer” arrives on the SNKRS app and select Nike retailers on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
The LeBron 17 Monstars arrived in stores last week. That colorway is based on the purple and orange uniforms worn by the talent-sucking alien nemesis of Bugs Bunny and the Tune Squad in the upcoming movie.
The “Monstars” Nike Lebron 17s, which retail for $225, are available now at Nike.com, Foot Locker stores and the SNKRS app. The colorway is also available in big kids ($165), little kids ($95) and baby/toddler ($60) sizes, too.
Nike released a Tune Squad shoe Saturday. These kicks represent the debut of the LeBron 17 Low line and feature a red, white and blue color scheme, and a lucky furry swoosh in honor of Bugs himself.
The Tune Squad-inspired shoes retail for $160 and are for sale at SNS and StockX.
