AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Vulcans will play their second home futsal game of the season Saturday, Feb. 15, when they face Mit West Futsal Club of Farmington Hills, Michigan.
The game kicks off at 8 p.m. at Goodyear Hall, 1201 E. Market St., Akron. Tickets are available at the door for floor and upper-deck seats. Most are $10, with VIP and table tickets $15 to $25. The game previously was scheduled for 7 p.m., but logistics regarding other events in the hall forced a change, Vulcans assistant coach Nick Miletti said.
Akron is 4-1 (1-0 home, 3-1 road). Mit West is seeking its first win. The team is 0-5. The teams play in the Eastern Conference of the National Futsal Premier League.
"We're definitely a defensive-minded team," Akron coach Otto Orf said. "That's the way we started out."
Akron's only loss came in the season opener, at Indianapolis. Since then the Vulcans have gone on a four-game winning streak. They have allowed 17 goals, lowest among the league's 10 teams.
Futsal merges indoor and outdoor soccer, hockey and basketball and requires deft ball control on the court.
