Ohio State football dismisses Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint from team following rape, kidnapping charges

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State football coach Ryan Day announced Wednesday that Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint have both been dismissed from the team.

Riep and Wint were both charged with felony counts of rape and kidnapping on Tuesday and booked into custody on Wednesday. They are scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Thursday morning in Franklin County Municipal Court.

I have dismissed Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint from our football program,” Day said in an e-mailed release. “I am not making any statement on the criminal charges, but it is clear they did not live up to our standards and my expectations.

"The athletics department will make sure they both continue to have access to the health and well-being resources available to students and student-athletes. Due to the ongoing criminal investigation, I will not be commenting further.”

According to a Columbus Police Department affidavit of probable cause, a woman said she began having consensual sex with Riep at the apartment he shared with Wint on Feb. 4. The woman stopped the intercourse and moved away, saying she did not want to continue. Wint entered the room, and Riep grabbed the woman by the neck, forced her onto her hands and knees and raped her.

Per the complaint, Riep then held the woman in place by the hips and with his body while Wint forced oral sex on her. Riep then told the woman to give her name on a video recording and say the actions were consensual.

Both Riep and Wint were suspended from football team activities indefinitely following the filing of the charges on Tuesday.

Both Riep, from Cincinnati, and Wint, from Brooklyn, New York, were junior defensive backs expected to provide veteran depth in a secondary that saw two starters graduate and a third leave early for the NFL Draft.
