COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State football now has a second five-star commitment in its 2021 recruiting class.
Philadelphia St. Joseph’s quarterback Kyle McCord was moved up to five-star status in the 247 Sports composite. He is now ranked No. 23 overall — jumping up from his previous ranking of No. 57.
Pickerington North defensive end Jack Sawyer, the nation’s No. 2 prospect, is also committed to Ohio State. The Buckeyes have commitments from eight of the nation’s top 101 players, and the class is currently ranked No. 1 in the composite.
Another OSU commit making an even bigger jump was defensive tackle Mike Hall, shot rocketed from No. 232 to 85. Offensive tackle Ben Chrisman dropped from No. 56 to 101.

McCord’s development adds additional stability — and potentially intrigue — to Ohio State’s quarterback situation in the coming years.
CJ Stroud and Jack Miller are both on campus as early enrollees in the 2020 class. Stroud was a consensus five-star ranked No. 41 in the class. Miller was a four-star ranked in the national top 50 before dropping due to injuries.
Both are competing to back up Justin Fields and potentially take over that starting job in 2021. Perhaps McCord will have something to say about that when he arrives, as well.
