COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Members of the Ohio State basketball 1960 National Championship team will be honored when the Buckeyes host Illinois on March 5.
A team that featured three future Naismith Hall of Famers in John Havlicek, Jerry Lucas and Larry Siegfried put together a 25-3 overall record and 13-1 mark in the Big Ten in their second season under head coach Fred Taylor.
Among those expected to be in attendance is Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight, who played for the Buckeyes from 1959-1962. He averaged 3.7 points and two rebounds during that season and would later go on to have an illustrious coaching career, compiling a 902–371 record. He is best known for his years at Indiana where he won three national championships.
Knight recently made his return to Indiana’s Assembly Hall over the weekend to watch the Hoosiers face Purdue.
