COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Former Ohio State basketball player D’Angelo Russell’s time with the Golden State Warriors has been cut short as he has been traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Golden State has agreed to trade D'Angelo Russell to Minnesota for a deal that includes Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 protected first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick, league sources tell ESPN. Warriors will send Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to Timberwolves too.

Russell was averaging career-highs in points (23.6) and 3-point percentage (37.4) in 33 games for the 12-40 Warriors this season.
However they have been playing short-handed with Stephen Curry sidelined with a broken right hand and Klay Thompson out for possibly the season after tearing his left ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
The fifth-year player was brought to Golden State following an All-Star year with the Brooklyn Nets as part of a sign-and-trade that involved Kevin Durant. The Timberwolves are his fourth team after being selected as the No. 2 pick by the Lakers in 2015. He will join Karl-Anthony Towns, who was the top pick by the Timberwolves in that same draft.
Russell played just one season in Columbus, leading OSU to the Sweet 16 in 2015. The Kentucky native averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and five assists with the Buckeyes.
Russell will join fellow former Buckeye Evan Turner, who was also recently traded to Minnesota.
