COLUMBUS, Ohio -- USA Basketball announced its finalists for the team that will head to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics and former Ohio State player Mike Conley is among the 44 players being considered.

Conley is playing in his first season with the Utah Jazz after spending the first 12 years of his career with the Memphis Grizzles. He is averaging 13.5 points and 4.2 assists per game this season. Should he make the 12-man roster he would be the first Buckeye basketball Olympian since Michael Redd was a part of the 2008 gold medal team.

The Indiana native spent just one season in Columbus, where he and center Greg Oden led the Buckeyes to the National Championship game in 2007 before losing to Florida. Conley averaged 11.3 points and 6.3 assists in his lone season.

Other notable names on the list include Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and LeBron James. The team will be coached by San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. Golden State head coach Steve Kerr, Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce and Villanova University head coach Jay Wright will serve as assistants.

Multiple Buckeyes make PFF’s All-Prospect team

Chase Young, Malik Hooker and Marshon Lattimore made the team while Joey and Nick Bosa along with Jeffrey Okudah earned honorable mentions. The Bosas, Hooker and Lattimore were first-round picks in their respective draft classes. Okudah and Young are expected to be top five picks in the 2020 draft.
