CLEVELAND, Ohio — Federal prosecutors on Tuesday charged Ohio House of Representatives Speaker Larry Householder, an aide and lobbyists in a racketeering conspiracy.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Columbus released the criminal complaint against the state Republican leader and others while the defendants made their initial appearances via video front of a federal magistrate judge in Cincinnati.

Also charged via the 82-page complaint are former Ohio Republican Party Chair-turned-consultant Matt Borges, prominent lobbyist Neil Clark, FirstEnergy Solutions lobbyist Juan Cespedes, Householder aide Jeff Longstreth and the group Generation Now. The FBI on Tuesday morning arrested the five men.
