CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has landed a piece of the most iconic live event in rock music history.

The museum will welcome part of the stage from the Woodstock festival in 1969, which featured everyone from Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin to Santana and The Who. The Rock Hall is hosting a special artifact presentation and donation event on Tuesday, March 3 with Steve Gold, the owner of the stage.

“People have an intense emotional attachment to the festival, whether they were there or not,” says Gold, who acquired the panels of the original stage in 2017. “The original stage is the only artifact that exists for people to touch and reflect upon. Its importance is beyond measure — it’s like the Holy Grail of rock music.”

The stage piece will be housed in the museum’s “Woodstock at 50” exhibit, which closes on April 5. The March 3 presentation of the stage is free with general admission to the Rock Hall.
