CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cuyahoga County Public Library's annual Food4Fines donation drive is set for March.
During the drive, library patrons can reduce fines up to $4 per visit ($1 per food item) when they donate "Super Six" food items or make cash donations to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank's Harvest for Hunger campaign at their local CCPL branch.
Only donations of the food bank’s Super Six items will be accepted: Peanut butter, cereal, canned soup, canned vegetables, beef stew and tuna fish. Donations will be collected at check-out desks in all of the county’s branches.
The drive runs March 1-31.
Note that damaged or expired food will not be accepted. Also, food stored in glass containers will not be taken.
Donations will be distributed to food pantries, hot-meal programs and shelters. In 2019, the Food4Fines drive raised more than 19,000 pounds of donations.
