CLEVELAND, Ohio - Great Lakes Brewing Co. will hold its second annual Barrel Aged Blackout Stout Brewmaster's Dinner at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27.
Chef Richard Basich and Justin Michalovic, manager of the Great Lakes barrel-aging program, will guide the tasting at the five-course dinner in the tasting room. Cost is $85.
All the Blackout Stouts that will be served are 2019 vintages except one:
• Blackout Stout Imperial Stout
• 2020 Bourbon Barrel Blackout Stout
• Brandy Barrel Blackout Stout
• Tequila Barrel Blackout Stout
• Gin Barrel Blackout Stout
• Coconut Rum Barrel Blackout Stout
• Triple Bourbon Barrel Blackout Stout
Menu is in the works.
On Saturday, April 4, the brewery will release 22-ounce bottles of 2020 Barrel Aged Blackout Stout at Cellar Night, a celebration of barrel-aged beers, food and music. Details will be announced.
The barrel-aged version of Blackout Stout, a Russian Imperial Stout, is 10.5% alcohol. Its name comes from the wide-reaching 2003 blackout that affected about 55 million people.
Friday, the brewery opened after a three-week shutdown for a complete renovation of its dining areas.
