Resources for Kids & Families

Online Storytimes: Read stories and sing songs with our Virtual Storytimes, with new events every day featuring librarians all over Brooklyn. Multilingual Storytimes are hosted in nine languages. During Brainy Babies, our youngest patrons and their families enjoy stories and activities designed to encourage brain development and early learning practices. In Ready, Set, Kindergarten’s special six session series, children ages 3–5 and their caregivers enjoy stories and activities designed to encourage the development of early learning practices.

Online Programming: Our staff are hosting fun, virtual activities for school-age kids and teens every day, too. Team Up to Read is a free, interactive series designed for children ages 5–9 and their caregivers to help strong readers by improving reading skills with tips and fun activities. We also have new, fun STEM programs for Middle Schoolers

Remote Schooling: Caregivers and children can access Homeschool Resources for students K–12, including live tutoring in afternoons and evenings and personalized academic assistance via BPL volunteers on Zoom or Brainfuse HelpNow. Older students can practice for the SAT, AP, ACT or TASC (high school equivalency exam) or simply improve their reading or math skills with Learning Express Library.

Resources for Job Seekers & Small Business Owners

Resume and job search assistance: If you need help on your resume or job search, BPL’s Business and Career Services is offering a personalized email service to help as well as live resume and career help on Zoom. If you have questions about your resume, cover letter, resources that could help you in your job search, or other job search-related questions, please email resumehelp@bklynlibrary.org.

For professional development: Get ahead with a self-paced high quality online class from LinkedIn Learning in business, software, technology, and creative skills like video and audio editing, as well as other excellent online learning platforms.

Find trustworthy information: If you're starting a business, looking for work, or do you want to take control of your finances, our business librarians created Resources to Help you Navigate the COVID-19 Crisis.

Resources for Adult Learners

Register for BPL’s online Adult Learning classes to improve at reading, writing and math, prepare for HSE and TASC tests, and increase your English language skills. Classes are fully online with live virtual class meetings each week using Zoom—schedule a virtual screening to get started.

Resources for Older Adults

Older adults can take creative programs at the Library, from workshops on crafting a memory book from stories and photos to creative writing or memoir writing workshops, as well as virtual movement classes to keep active while staying at home. See all our virtual programs for older adults here.
