In my 35 years in the business as banquet manager, catering manager, director and meeting planner, I have discovered that all corporations or business will create their own service standards to meet their needs. However everybody will always need the basic skills to meet the demands of the customers. I have also found that the hospitality industry is moving towards a service staff rental stage due to employee costs, and standardized basic skill sets are needed for those transit servers and bartenders. These basic service guide lines have been around for years in some form or another so I can’t take credit for the information. All I have done is work to put all of the knowledge so an inexperienced person can have the basic knowledge to become a good waiter/waitress.
