The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is looking for a Healthy Communities Coordinator in Denver.  This position will help reduce the climate and air quality impacts of transportation by encouraging Coloradans to use all forms of transportation, working in collaboration with stakeholders, local transportation management organizations and CDOT staff, to strategize, develop, implement, administer and track all programs to provide transportation options across the Department.  This also includes ensuring that mobility options and active transportation policies are incorporated into statewide planning processes.  The goal for these programs and strategies is to increase sustainable transportation options and usage across Colorado.

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that mobility options are considered throughout the state.
  • Stay abreast of global, national, and local trends in clean transportation, such as Complete Streets, mobility behavior research and micromobility trends.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure transportation options are incorporated into Statewide planning processes, including updating planning documents to incorporate transportation demand management, investigating new technologies and strategies, and determining future solutions to reduce congestion and single-occupancy trips.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on performance for internal and external distribution, including senior CDOT staff, the Transportation Commission, and the Governor's Office.
  • Develop strategies and work with other internal stakeholders, such as HR, Region Directors, the Office of Communications and other leadership to encourage CDOT employees, statewide, to utilize all transportation options for commuting, business and personal trips.
