Murder on the Island

Enter ... If You Dare

Welcome to "Murder on the Island," a digital escape room created by Ms. Rysavy's Spring 2020 Genre Fiction Writing class at UW-Green Bay's Marinette Campus. While we had originally intended to create and hold a live murder-mystery party, COVID-19 shut that idea down. So we regrouped and came up with this digital escape room instead. Anyone is welcome to play!

Keep in mind that this project was a creative writing class project, so the text blocks are a bit longer than your average digital escape room, as we really got into our storytelling. We hope you enjoy it.

Parental Guidance

This escape room is suitable for adults, teens, and tweens. Parents with younger children, use your best judgment. The game's story does involve a murder, though there are no gory details.

The Story Begins:

In January of 2016, Gen-Z millionaire Kyle G. Imsodead, a former social media influencer and Big Brother runner-up who inherited the bulk of his wealth, was elected the 46th President of the United States in what seemed to the rest of the world to be a terrible, extended practical joke. Even before becoming the ruler of the free world, President Imsodead had a reputation for being an overly dramatic narcissist who didn’t let anyone or anything stand in the way of his goals. The only reason he didn't win his season of Big Brother is that he's annoying.

President Imsodead is currently running for reelection, but he knows he’s burned one too many bridges. The polls are too close for comfort, and he’s going to have to make peace with some of his powerful enemies. He hopes to win them over so they’ll help him win over their supporters, setting up a chain reaction that will carry him to victory.

He decides to throw a lavish party on his private Caribbean island.
