UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As Penn State has taken numerous measures to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus and protect the health and well-being of faculty, staff, students and communities, University leaders are convening two separate hour-and-a-half Town Halls on Tuesday, March 24, to provide updates and answer questions.

“Our senior leaders and their teams across the University are working through extraordinary circumstances, and truly exemplify the spirit of who we are as Penn Staters,” said President Eric Barron. “I am continually amazed and inspired by what our faculty, staff and students are doing in light of the outbreak.”

Barron continued, “Given the urgency of the situation, we wanted to bring the entire Penn State community together to discuss where we are as an institution and where we’re going in an open, but safe manner where people can participate while practicing social distancing.”

Both online events will be livestreamed at LiveEvents.psu.edu. The events will also be recorded and archived for later viewing.

The first event, set for 10 to 11:30 a.m. on March 24, will be devoted to answering questions from faculty and staff. Joining Barron for the event will be:

  • Nick Jones, executive vice president and provost;
  • David Gray, senior vice president for finance and business/treasurer;
  • Lorraine Goffe, vice president for human resources; and
  • Matthew Ferrari, associate professor of biology and researcher in the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics.

The second event, set for 3 to 4:30 p.m., will focus on questions from students and parents. Joining Barron will be:

  • Nick Jones, executive vice president and provost;
  • Damon Sims, vice president for student affairs;
  • Renata Engel, vice provost for online education;
  • Yvonne Gaudelius, associate vice president and senior associate dean for undergraduate education; and
  • Matthew Ferrari, associate professor of biology and researcher in the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics.

SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS NOW: Faculty, staff, students and parents from all Penn State locations are invited to submit questions in advance and during the event using an anonymous form, or by emailing their queries to questions@psu.edu (to those who submit by email, your identity will not be shared).
