MELBOURNE, Fla. – Serving as the biggest offensive threat for the Nova Southeastern softball team,
Sydney Lageyre has been named this week's Sunshine State Conference Softball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The senior was the Sharks' leading offensive threat this past week, helping NSU to a 6-0 week over non-conference opponents, including three mercy-rule wins. Lageyre finished with a .632 batting average with 12 hits in 19 at bats. Recording a .737 slugging percentage, she tallied four RBI and scored 10 times. She also stole 12 bases, getting caught only once.
Currently, Lageyre ranks first in the league in stolen bases with 19. Over the course of the season, she has only been caught once. She is also fourth in hits with 33, fifth in runs scored with 23 and fifth with her .418 batting average.
The Sharks will play again at home this Tuesday, Mar. 9, against Kutztown in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 5:00 p.m.
