MELBOURNE, Fla. – Following two more impressive performances on the hardwood, Nova Southeastern men's basketball standout
Mark Matthews has once again been named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week – his second such honor within the past two months.
The redshirt senior continued to make his case for SSC Player of the Year after averaging 31.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists in a pair of matchups against both Lynn and Florida Southern. In a rematch of the 2019 NCAA South Region Championship, Matthews had his way versus Lynn, finishing with a game-high 31 points on an efficient 15-of-20 from the field, as the Sharks avenged their previous defeat with a 104-71 rout this time around. Three nights later, the Bonita Springs, Fla. native flirted with a triple-double in a clash with No. 6 Florida Southern, collecting a game-high 32 points to go along with seven boards and a career-high 10 assists.
Matthews has now reached double figures in 18 straight games, and currently leads the SSC in scoring (22.5 ppg).
Matthews and the Sharks will open their week on the road Wednesday with a trip to Palm Beach Atlantic. For complete coverage of the action, visit theÂ
