Sharks Add Seven New Faces to 2020 Recruiting Class

NSU looking to reload following departure of 10 seniors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Following the loss of 10 seniors from last season's NCAA South Region Championship team, head coach John Constable and the Nova Southeastern women's soccer program have begun the process of reloading the roster after officially announcing the addition of seven newcomers to the 2020 recruiting class on Friday.

"Overall, I am happy with the class we have coming in," said Constable, who has guided the program to the NCAA Tournament in each of his first five seasons. "We have done our business pretty early, and I feel good that we are not scrambling still trying to find players at the last minute. We lost a fantastic senior class from the 2019 season. However, not only do I feel we have a good group coming in, but I am also very happy with the 21 players we have returning. The upcoming season is a rebuilding year for us, but the goals never change. We want to win trophies and compete at, and for, NCAA championships."

The list of new players are detailed below:

Annie Bjork
Hometown: Malmo, Sweden
Position: Center Back/Outside Back
Height: 5-10
Previous School: University of Bridgeport

Constable's Thoughts on Annie: "Annie transfers in here from University of Bridgeport having played practically every minute on its 2018 team that won the NCAA Division II national title. Her transition should be smooth to the Sunshine State Conference, and we look forward to working with her. In addition to being a good player, she also has good height, which will prove to be useful on both offensive and defensive set plays."

Emma Brown
Position: Center Midfielder/Defender
Height: 5-8
Previous School: Middlesbrough College
Club Team: Middlesbrough Women FC

Constable's Thoughts on Emma: "We are excited to have Emma here. She is another player that has great versatility, as she can play center midfield plus anywhere across the backline. She also has pretty good size, which is important on set plays. Emma has represented the England youth national team at various age groups and has started games for them. Players coming in here with that level of experiences have typically done very well for us. I expect no different with Emma."

Tinotenda Chiweshe
Position: Forward
Height: 5-5
Previous School: Charles W. Flanagan High School
Club Team: Miami Lakes United Soccer Club

Constable's Thoughts on Tinotenda: "Tino has attributes that we can work with here. She is strong, powerful, fast, quick, and she is a constant threat due to those qualities. Tino is another product of our NSU Elite ID camp. She came to the camp, performed well, and from there it was a no-brainer. We very much wanted her in the program and are glad we got her."

Daniela Correa
Position: Center Forward
Height: 5-6
Previous School: Gulliver Prep
Club Team: Sunrise Prime FC

Constable's Thoughts on Daniela: "Daniela is a goal scorer. Right foot, left foot, inside the box, outside the box and with her head. Whether I go watch her with Prime ECNL or with Gulliver Prep, she always seems to be putting the ball in the back of the net. She will offer something different compared to the other talented forwards we have here, as she is more of a target striker. We will be able to play balls in to her and have her hold the ball up for us to allow us to get up the field. Daniela has good size and strength. She is also deceptively quick and good in the air. We are happy to have her here."

Paige MacRitchie
Position: Goalkeeper
Height: 5-10
Previous School: Geneva High School
Club Team: Team Chicago 2002 Elite

Constable's Thoughts on Paige: "We lose two goalkeepers to graduation after the 2020 season, so it was very important we brought someone in this year to prepare for those departures. Paige is a product of our ID camp. She has good size, good presence, and is a goalkeeper that I see a lot of potential in. She plays on a strong club team, and I'm excited to see how she grows and develops here as a Shark!"

Isabel Martinez
Position: Defender/Forward
Height: 5-2
Previous School: St. Thomas Aquinas High School
Club team: Sunrise Prime FC

Constable's Thoughts on Isabel: "I really like Izzy as a player. I was always impressed by her when she played for (former NSU assistant coach) Cory Harbinson's team at Sunrise, and she was one of our top performers at our NSU Elite ID camp last summer. She is blazing quick and versatile, as she can play anywhere across both the backline and frontline. Her speed and quickness allows her to attack very well 1v1 and defend well 1v1. She is also neat and tidy on the ball and keeps it more often than not."

Jordan Scandizzo
Position: Forward/Attacking Midfielder
Height: 5-8
Previous School: West Broward High School
Club team: Sunrise Prime FC

Constable's Thoughts on Jordan: "Jordan is a good local player that will be a valuable addition to our squad. She has been exposed to a good level of play at both Weston and Sunrise Prime, and that will help aid her in her transition here. Jordan is another player that made an impression at our NSU Elite ID camp. She has good height, size and presence. In addition, she passes and moves well, and is capable of producing offensive stats for the team."
