MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the second time this season, senior-forward
Jordan Tully has been recognized for her stellar play on the court. After winning the SSC Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 23, Tully has now captured her first career SSC Player of the Week honor as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. NSU is currently riding a three-game win streak after finishing the week 2-0 in conference play with wins over Palm Beach Atlantic (75-55) and Embry-Riddle (84-71).
In a blowout victory over PBA, Tully recorded a career-high 29 points on 13-of-24 shooting from the field, then immediately followed it up with a game-high 27 points (10-of-16) against ERAU. In addition to her 56 points while shooting 58 percent from the field, Tully pulled down 13 rebounds to go along with five steals (career-high 3 vs. ERAU), three assists, two blocks and recorded her first two triples of the season in a strong offensive performance this week.
Tully has now scored 20+ points in seven games this season, including each of her past three contests. The Canadian has now pushed her points per game total to 18.3, two points higher than anyone in the SSC, while maintaining the leagues highest field goal percentage at 59.8.
In addition to her strong play on the offensive end, Tully ranks second in the SSC in number of blocks and average blocks per game, with 21 and 1.3 respectively. After finishing with 29 total blocks a season ago, Tully is well on pace to eclipse that mark in her second season at NSU.
"Jordan has been working very hard to push herself to the next level and her recent dominating production is a testament to her great effort, said head coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry. We are very proud of the player and leader Jordan is becoming at such a critical time in our season."
This marks the fourth honor the Sharks have received this season from the SSC league office and as a result of the strong play by NSU, they now have a chance at winning four straight games for the second time this season as they won four consecutive games from Dec. 7 - Dec. 21. The Sharks will travel south to Miami Shores on Wednesday night to take on Barry for the first time this season, before returning home to face Tampa and Saint Leo.
