NSU Headed to Back to Regionals

Sharks selected as the No. 4 team in the south region

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In his first full season as head coach, Joey Marino has the Nova Southeastern men's golf team back in the postseason, as the Sharks were named among the 80 teams selected to participate in regional competition as part of the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships. Nova Southeastern earned the No. 4 seed out of the south region, and will begin its quest for national title No. 3 when the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional opens up at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on May 9.

The Sunshine State Conference landed seven of the 10 bids in the south region, with the Sharks joined by Barry, Lynn, Florida Southern, Florida Tech, Saint Leo, and Rollins.

Nova Southeastern has shown promising signs this spring with a pair of runner-up finishes, and will head into regional play fresh off a notable third-place finish at the SSC Championship less than two weeks ago. The Sharks have been led throughout the season by 2018 All-American Juan Jose Guerra, who has three victories on the year, and is one away from tying the program's all-time win mark. Fellow senior Martin Larrea will look to build upon his Top-10 finish at the SSC Championship, while Finlay Mason may be finding his rhythm following a pair of 71's his last time out.

Nova Southeastern tied for sixth in the most recent super regional held at Mission Inn Resort and Club back in 2016.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals May 20-24 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W. Va. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by the Mountain East Conference.
