MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern duo of Emma Heikkila and Paige Napolitano has done it again, as the pair of team captains were honored for the second consecutive week as the Sunshine State Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, announced by the league office earlier Monday.

The award marks the fourth of Heikkila's career, and second overall for Napolitano.

Heikkila extended her scoring streak to seven games with at least one goal, helping lift NSU to a program-record 9-0 start with wins over Barry and Florida Tech this past week. The senior tallied a goal and an assist in the Sharks' 3-0 victory against the rival Buccaneers on Wednesday before notching the game-winner in the 79th minute of Saturday's 1-0 triumph at Florida Tech. Heikkila's current seven-game goal streak is the first by a Sharks player since Shurell Burton accomplished the feat back in 2006. Her 68 career points now rank fourth all-time in program history, while her 27 career goals are good for fifth.

A Napolitano-led defense, meanwhile, collected two more shutouts to keep the Sharks undefeated on the year. The Odessa, Fla. native played an integral role in holding Barry without a shot in the first half of the decisive win versus the Bucs. NSU then limited Florida Tech to just six shots total in what resulted in its eighth shutout already in 2019 - the most in a single season since 2016. Through nine matches, NSU currently ranks No. 1 in the the nation in goals-against average (0.11).
