Devin Fay

Beginning his fifth year with the NSU rowing program and third year as the head coach, Fay is eager to begin the 2018 – 19 season.  With over 13 years of coaching experience, Coach Fay has made an impact on the NSU program from day one, continuing to maintain the rowing team’s reputation as a nationally recognized program.
 
In his first year as the head coach, Fay’s squad continued the rowing team’s level of performance as a Division II contender.  The team won the FIRA 2017 Team Points Trophy reclaiming that title for the first time since 2013.  They finished 2nd for the third year in a row at the Sunshine State Conference Championships and had an 8th place finish in the 8+ and a 6th place finish in the 4+ at the Dad Vail Regatta. 

As an assistant coach the team filed two second-place finishes at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, and helping the team to back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Division II Rowing Championships. With 2016 being the 11th overall appearance at the NCAA National Championships, where the varsity eight competed in the Petite Final.

During his tenure at NSU the squad has produced four CRCA All-Americans, ten CRCA National Scholar Athletes, six Sunshine State All-Conference athletes and one CoSIDA First Team All-American. 
 
Prior to NSU, Fay served for a year as the assistant women’s coach at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine from ’12 – ‘13. While there, he helped lead the women’s crew to a second-place team finish at the NCAA National Championships.  The summer before, he earned valuable experience serving as the assistant coach for the US National Team lightweight 8+, as they traveled to Plovdiv, Bulgaria to compete in the 2012 World Championships. In addition he has coached at Cornell University as an assistant lightweight coach for the ’11 – ’12 season, at Smith College as a graduate assistant coach from ’09 – ’11, and at Taylor Allderdice HS in Pittsburgh as the head coach from ’07 – ‘09.
 
Fay received his bachelor’s degree at Ithaca College and obtained a Master of Science in exercise and sports studies at Smith College in 2011.
