This year’s poster session will take place Friday, November 8 from 9:45-11:15 am

Join us on November 7-8 for the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute’s 64th Annual New Mexico Water Conference.

We are proud to announce that this year’s conference theme is Common Water, Sacred Water: Tribal perspectives on water issues in New Mexico. Water experts, stakeholders, academics, and water professionals from pueblos, tribes, and nations all across the state will gather to discuss the pressing water issues facing their homelands and communities. This year’s conference will be held at the Pueblo of Pojoaque’s Buffalo Thunder Resort, Pojoaque, NM.

Two optional pre-conference field trips will take place on November 6, the day before the conference begins. One will demonstrate the restoration efforts following the 2011 Las Conchas Fire and subsequent flooding suffered by the Santa Clara Creek watershed, and capped off with a tour of the Puye Cliff Dwellings. Another tour will showcase the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System project, and will be hosted by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

We have an informative two-day program scheduled including the always-popular poster session. We expect over 40 posters to be displayed. The session provides a perfect opportunity to exchange information, showcase water projects, and update colleagues on water research being conducted around the state. The 90-minutes session allows student, faculty, agency staff, and private entities to network with colleagues from throughout the state and region, providing opportunities for collaboration.

We are delighted that the 2019 Albert E. Utton Water Lecture will be delivered by Sandra Postel, director and founder of the Global Water Policy Project. The Lecture will take place at the luncheon on November 8.
