This year the Annual Meeting's focus was planned to be on numbers and the details related to how and why librarians use them, track them, and display and portray them. We had put together a program full of practical sessions with instruction and information you can put to use back in your library.
Unfortunately, we have had to shorten our meeting and convert it to a Virtual Meeting due to the ongoing pandemic.
We hope to offer the other programs throughout the rest of the year under MAHSLIN's educational programming.

Tyler Nix, MSLS
Tyler is an informationist at the University of Michigan Taubman Health Sciences Library and co-leads the Taubman Research Impact Core. He is also active with the library's data visualization working group, and is a liaison to the School of Dentistry and Department of Emergency Medicine. Prior to joining Taubman, he was an Associate Fellow at the National Library of Medicine and worked at the Frontier Nursing University and University of Arkansas libraries. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of Kentucky.
Judy Smith, MSLIS (Co-creator of program. Unable to attend.)
Judy is an informationist at the Taubman Health Sciences Library and co-leads the Taubman Research Impact Core. In addition to her work with the research impact core, Judy serves as a liaison to the Department of Health Management and Policy in the School of Public Health, and partners closely with faculty and students affiliated with the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. Judy previously served as the Virtual Library Services Coordinator within the Entrepreneurial Library Program (ELP) of the Sheridan Libraries at the Johns Hopkins University. She received a BA from the University of Michigan, and her MSLIS from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.

Research by the Numbers: Publication Metrics in Context
This session will focus on familiar, and some less familiar, publication metrics (e.g., H-Index, Journal Impact Factor, Relative Citation Ratio, alternative metrics) often used to quantify and demonstrate scholarly impact in the health sciences. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the limitations and strengths of several metrics, and some of the tools used to gather this data (e.g., Scopus, Altmetric Explorer for Institutions, NIH iCite). Using several case studies, the session will present metrics through the perspective of our consultation and education initiatives at the Taubman Health Sciences Library. The session will also present tips for promoting the responsible use of publication metrics, and resources for exploring the broader research impact evaluation landscape.
