Amtrak Donates Blankets to the Javits Center

Amtrak donates blankets to those in need ahead of larger planned donation

NEW YORK – Amtrak has partnered with Delivering Good to donate surplus blankets to military-run hospitals at the Javits Center who are caring for patients impacted by the Coronavirus crisis. This is the first step as part of a larger, nationwide donation resulting from enhancements to Amtrak’s long distance services that are being implemented this year.

“The donated blankets provided to the Javits Center Field Hospital for COVID-19 patients met a heartbreaking need,” said Peter B. Gudaitis, Executive Director, New York Disaster Interfaith Services (NYDIS). “When patients needed extra blankets to stay warm during this life-threatening illness, some would have been discharged to homes without adequate bedding were it not for the partnership between Delivering Good and Amtrak. We thank Amtrak for bringing comfort and helping heal fellow New Yorkers during this challenging time.”

“Since its inception, Amtrak has always been a part of the community to provide essential services to those who need it most,” said Roger Harris, EVP of marketing and revenue at Amtrak. “Whether it be blankets or food, Amtrak is always looking for ways to reduce waste and helps struggling Americans who may need extra help.”

“With over 35 years of crisis experience, Delivering Good is helping individuals and families tackling the challenges of this pandemic,” said President & CEO Lisa Gurwitch. “For those facing poverty, homelessness, job loss and more, the gift of new, essential products can provide hope, dignity and self-esteem.” Find out more at and www.delivering-good.com.
