Dear Partners,

Truly inspiring – that is all we can say to describe your efforts across the state. Thank you for your tireless efforts, quick and creative thinking, and ideas around how to continue providing food to families, children and seniors. The Foodbank’s Response Team is in the process of connecting with all of our community partners and schools and we are looking forward to sharing a compilation of what we have heard and more about the Foodbank’s efforts next week.

In the mean time we want to assure you have some critical information.

Free meals for children are available at approved sites across the state.
Children ages 1-18 may pick-up meals at any site, regardless of enrollment. Children must be physically present at the feeding site to receive a meal. Please contact individual sites for meal service times.

 Mobile Recommendations to Consider:

  • Move to a food box model of distribution
  • Provide for drive-thru pick up of food
  • Check in with your local university or high schools for volunteers. If you know you will need volunteers let the Foodbank know – we are willing to help with communication.
More information will be provided regarding the Foodbank’s support system for Mobile Pantries soon.

SNAP (food stamp) changes:
Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has announced that some of their Self-Reliance office lobbies will no longer accept face to face customers and are instead operating via phone, email, and fax. If a customer has specific needs that require a face to face appointment, they will arrange for those on an as-needed basis.

CSFP Update:
IFB is planning to utilize double issuances where possible. Idaho has received permission to distribute two boxes at a time in April, covering the months of April and May of service. This will minimize the number of distributions we have, and prevent seniors from having to leave their houses multiple times to access their food box. We understand that many of you are limited on space and capacity and this may not be a realistic solution for everyone.
