CBC News has compiled a timeline of the events leading up to the breach of the Nova Scotia government’s freedom-of-information website. The timeline dates back to April 2016, when design work began on the website, covering Auditor General Michael Pickup’s concerns with the software used on the website in November 2016, the launch of the portal in January 2017, and the illicit download taking place March 3 this year. Other events cover the fallout from the breach, including the arrest of the 19-year-old man connected to the breach, statements made by the suspect, and the support he has received from tech professionals from around the world. Pickup's office announced it will conduct an audit of the province's privacy services in response to the breach.
