Hello Families and Participants,
As part of the Commonpoint Queens Cultural Arts program, we offer an engaging Virtual Authors series featuring a wide-variety of relevant topics to our community. On Thursday, October 22nd at 7:30pm, we will be featuring Jo Ivester, author of the book ONCE A GIRL, ALWAYS A BOY: A Family Memoir of a Transgender Journey
Jeremy Ivester is a transgender man. Thirty years ago, his parents welcomed him into the world as their daughter. As a child, he preferred the toys and games our society views as masculine. Once a Girl, Always a Boy is Jeremy’s journey from childhood through coming out as transgender and eventually emerging as an advocate for the transgender community. This is not only Jeremy’s story but also that of his family, told from multiple perspectives―his own viewpoint and those of his siblings and of his parents. This is a story of acceptance in a world not quite ready to accept.
Commonpoint Queens is offering this event free of charge for Youth Services, High School and College Success and Youth Workforce program participants and their families. If you would like to attend this Virtual Author Series event, please no later than Tuesday, October 20th and a link to the event will be sent to your email provided.
