In recognition of Arbor Day, we are tremendously proud of our Bloom soil amendment for winning the 2024 Canopy Award for Sustainability from Casey Trees. The Canopy Awards honor people and organizations that are working to restore, enhance, and protect DC’s tree canopy. We were also excited to host last night’s awards ceremony at our HQO. #BloomSoil #EPACertified #ArborDay

Happy Administrative Professionals Day! Today CEO David L. Gadis led a celebration of the important women and men who keep the Authority humming throughout the year. Our administrative professionals greet visitors and guests. They often manage data and reports that contribute to payroll, travel arrangements, and other projects where there is no room for error. They are relentlessly focused on Authority business and working hard to solve problems for others. They are trusted to maintain confidential information and set a tone of integrity, reliability, and inclusiveness for our teams. In many ways, they are the Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs). Thank you for all you do!

We are proud to announce that our Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Thompson, P.E. has been selected as a new Director of The Water Research Foundation (WRF)! Customer engagement is critical to explain proposed changes in rates and detail the vital services that will be funded. That's why we are meeting with customers at a series of town hall meetings this month - both in-person and virtual. If you have an interest, your next opportunity is this Saturday, April 20, at Tubman Elementary School. The address is 3101 13th Street NW and the meeting starts at 11 AM. We hope to see you there!

Here is a closer look at the dynamic bronze sculpture that was unveiled this week at our headquarters. It is a commissioned work by artist Steven Weitzman, to honor all those who have served or will serve the Authority. It depicts two frontline employees working in tandem to close a valve, and is lifelike right down to the water leaking from the broken main at their feet. Mr. Weitzman’s sculpture truly captures the tireless spirit and dedication of the women and men of DC Water. It will be the first thing visitors see when they enter HQO. To see more of the artist's work, including his statues of Frederick Douglass and Marion Barry, visit https://lnkd.in/e9n9MUpm.

We have had a very busy and productive #WaterWeek. Our CEO David L. Gadis hosted a Fireside Chat on the Workforce of the Future with local business executives, followed by a special "Toast to Team Blue" event at our HQO. The highlight was the unveiling of a commissioned statue by artist Steven Weitzman to honor our dedicated employees past, present and future. A complete recap is coming soon!

You're invited! Please join us for a very special DC Water event, ‘A Toast to Team Blue,’ on Monday, April 8 at our HQO headquarters building. At the event, we will host a fireside chat with regional leaders on the ‘Workforce of the Future,’ and formally dedicate a bronze sculpture which captures the tireless spirit and dedication of the heroic women and men of DC Water. Fireside chat panelists include David L. Gadis (CEO and General Manager / DC Water), Jack McDougle (President and CEO / Greater Washington Board of Trade), Angela Franco (President and CEO / DC Chamber of Commerce) and Yesim Sayin Taylor (Executive Director / DC Policy Center). The discussion will be moderated by Unique Morris-Hughes , PhD (Director / DC Department of Employment Services). Generations of employees have worked around the clock, regardless of weather conditions, to keep District families connected to water and wastewater services, and this statue serves as a tribute to all those who have served the Authority, past, present, and future.
