April 7, 2019 Newsletter
A Fun-Filled Afternoon!!
The Welcome 2019 Cycling Season Social held Sunday, April 7 was a great way to launch the season. It started with a walk led by Liz Timleck and a cycle led by Sig Jensen; a great turnout. These activities were followed by the pizza social with 111 people in attendance ... a lot of pizza was enjoyed by all! Anne-Marie Adachi and Charles World provided attendees with an update on the 2019 Tour d'Alberta. FYI, Don Peddie created this ride 25 years ago! More details regarding the Tour will follow in the next newsletter.
The year 2019 is also significant for long time EBTC member Max Mayer ... he's 90 years strong this year and is planning to register in the Tour d'Alberta. Anne-Marie noted that it will be his 25th time cycling that ride; congrats Max. EBTCers had great fun helping him celebrate. Terry Fannon announced that there are more than 160 rides on the calendar for the 2019 season offered by some 45 ride leaders; thanks to all those volunteers. A fun-filled afternoon!
New River Valley Ride
Want to explore the river valley cycling routes in the company of like-minded cyclists? Bring your bike (mountain or fat or hybrid or ebike) and enjoy a leisurely paced ride on both paved and unpaved trails. The season will begin with minimal hills for a distance of about 20 km advancing to a few more climbs and 40 km by September. For the first Thursday ride on April 18, meet in the Gold Bar Park parking lot. Arrive at 6:00 pm for a 6:15 pm sharp start. For more info, go to: http://bikeclub.ca/event
