Dr. Hanbury announced this week that our traditional commencement ceremonies will be postponed or held remotely. We look forward to celebrating with our graduates when it safe to do so. Special events and conducting business in general are challenging without congratulatory handshakes and face-to-face interaction, but I am still grateful for all the ways in which we are able to maintain our connections in the virtual realm. Social distancing and sheltering in place are a tad bit easier when I can see colleagues, donors, and friends through Skype, Facetime, and even Zoom. Read more ...

Harvey's philanthropic support led to the creation of NSU’s  Guy Harvey Research Institute  as well as the naming of the Guy Harvey Oceanographic Center building on NSU’s Ocean Campus.
Respiratory Therapy Program Loans Ventilators to Local Hospitals
With hospitals around the country reporting shortages of vital equipment, NSU is doing its part to help alleviate the issue. In anticipation that healthcare facilities will soon need extra ventilators to manage patients, NSU’s programs in Respiratory Therapy in the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences loaned eight ventilators to local hospitals.  Read more ...
Youth Spoken Word Poetry Competition Winners Announced
The Jason Taylor Foundation presented the annual "Louder Than a Bomb Florida" competition last week. The purpose of the event is to empower and unite South Florida's youth and community through the art of the spoken word. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's semifinals and finals, which have long been held on campus at NSU, were held virtually. Congratulations to individual champion Parker Barry from Wellington Community High School and team champion Cypress Bay High School’s Lightning Poets’ Society. Take an Up-Close Look at the Eastern Tropical Pacific Seascape
Tyler Plum, a masters degree student at the Guy Harvey Research Institute of NSU's Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography, is conducting his thesis research on the biodiversity and relative abundance of large vertebrate species in the offshore zone of the Eastern Tropical Pacific Seascape.To track these species remotely, Tyler designed floating, baited, camera rigs called BRUVs. COVID-19 Student Support Fund
To help students negatively affected by the impact of the current economic downturn, NSU created a COVID-19 Student Support Fund. The fund has received more than $18,000 in donations so far, and more than 400 students have applied for assistance. In this video,
