One stolen moment. That's all it took to change everything.

But when Luke starts paying attention to her, she thinks she may finally have her dreams come true.

Luke knows Shay is off limits, but he just can’t seem to stay away from the feisty brunette. Besides, a little secret—and a lot of kissing—never hurt anyone. Right?

Stolen Moments by Emily Bowie is the First book in the Steele Family Series. This is the story of Shay Steele and Luke Rogers. This was such a sweet story that you cannot put down. Shay has very protective brothers who think that Luke isn't for their sister but Shay can't help her feelings. Luke is somewhat bad but mostly for me a sweet southern man. I really liked their story and hope to read more from this author.

Stolen Moments had everything about the brothers-best-friend trope that I love. The sneaking around forbidden love between Luke and Shay, the drama of not wanting anyone to find out, and the sizzling connection that just can't stay contained. But it also had some things that I didn't like which is why I've felt pretty conflicted about it since I finished.

To start with the bad, I had a hard time getting into the writing style of this story. It seemed a little choppy and at times just wasn't cohesive enough for me to easily follow along. One of the biggest things was that sometimes a chapter would start with the present tense of "As I sit here listening to my parents yell at my brother..." and I would know exactly where the story is at timeline wise. But then the next paragraph, only a sentence or two after that one, would start with something like "The whole weekend I couldn't stop thinking about..." and then I would be confused on where we were and what was going on since clearly we skipped the whole weekend even though it was only a sentence before that we were at the beginning of the weekend. I just found it hard to follow at times because of that.

Yet even with that kind of thing I could still really enjoy the story when it came to Luke and Shay. I loved that they had a friendship before anything more started and that we got to see how they were both impacted by their feeling for one another. Once I could start getting use to the style of writing I was deeply invested into their romance and that chemistry between them was giving me all the feels.

And then the end happened and I was back to feeling very meh about the whole thing. The ending was a world all of it's own and it was somehow both too slow and too rushed at the same time. I don't even know how that's possible, but it is. There was so much going on and problem after problem kept popping up that the story never seemed to slow down and actually give detail to the things that needed to be focused on. So the end result was all of those things making the big issue feel rushed since it wasn't focused on really at all, yet also dragged the entire ending into this long and way too slow to get to the point type of thing.

Shay's brother, Kellan, was an annoying character for me since he kept popping up with his secrets that I frankly just didn't care about since they were taking away from Shay and Luke but at the end he did something really huge for Shay and then it was almost like it was no big deal. I went from wishing he would just out of the story to begging for him to come back so we could understand what actually happened. It drove me a little nuts that this issue was also where the prologue started as a little, here's what's coming type of thing, and clearly one of the main issues of the book yet once we finally got to that part it in the timeline it was then just glazed over, not detailed or explained, and left me feeling like I missed the whole point.

I'm clearly still a little conflicted about this book but I can say that as an overall story I enjoyed it. Luke and Shay as a couple were really amazing and I'm happy I got to experience their romance. All of the separate things going on, I can't say I enjoyed as much but they still intrigued me at moments.

"I never want this moment to be over. Shay is amazing; everything about her radiates perfect. She makes me feel like I could move the earth for her."

An absolute enchanting and addictive small town, southern romance, rife with undercurrents of the forbidden, but so incredibly sweet, I just melted right to the floor. Shay is the youngest Steele, and falling for her brother's best friend wasn't in the cards. Sneaking around under the radar made for so many adorable and incredibly hot moments between them, and I wasn't putting it down anytime soon. Luke was the supposed bad-boy of the town, but he was the perfect mix between Southern Gentleman and check-all-the-boxes book boyfriend. I absolutely loved the surprises, twists, and the unexpected happenings that kept me gripping my kindle well into the night. Luke and Shay were a story to go on my Top Reads of the Year NO DOUBT. I cannot wait for more of this series!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

"I want to ruin him so there is no chance of any other after me. He may be the first love of my life, and I most certainly want to be his last."

OMG!!!!
It’s 4am, I just finished this book. Couldn’t put it down. My feelings are still all over the place 🤷🏼‍♀️
Wow, this book has it all.
The sweet teenager love, the stolen moments, hurt, betrayal, anger, sadness, and again love. Deep deep unconditional love. Absolutely great.
I can’t wait for May, for Kellen‘s book. I want more like tomorrow? Is that possible? Lol
Thank you for such a great story. Sucking me into a small town in Texas. Making me silently cry in my bed. Bringing out all these feelings! And that’s what makes a good book for me.

I kindly received an arc for an honest review

Shay and Luke are the most adorable small town romance. I really enjoyed the before and after feel of this story. I feel like we were really able to get why and how their relationships were so strong. They really have this deep knowledge of each other… a deep bond that was there for decades. Stolen Moments is a story that seems to encompass so many romance genres… suspense, brother’s best friend, small town… and it all flows so perfectly.

I was so pleased with how Stolen Moments turned out. The story ebbed and flowed and you just didn’t want to stop reading. The suspense feel to it is gripping. I was so shocked by how things turned out. The need for Kellen’s story is strong.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Stolen Moments is a good read. Shay is a sweet nice girl. She has a crush on Luke. Luke is Kellen's best friend and Kellen is Shay's brother. Shay should be off limits to Luke but they have a deep connection. They keep their relationship a secret for bit. These two are great likeable characters. I loved reading their story. They had their ups and downs and I thought it was going to be just a fluffy love story but then something pretty shocking happens. Kellen steps in and takes care of things, I wanted to be and at him for some things but he's really is a good brother. The ending was a little rushed and I kinda of thought it might end with a cliffhanger but it didn't.

* I received an ARC but am leaving an honest and voluntary review *

First time reader of Emily's work and I am already hooked! This book was amazing!

There was angst, drama, love, loss, longing, plenty of steam, a plot twist I didn't see coming and a HEA. Everything you could want in an awesome read. Added bonus for me: it's a brother's best friend story - one of my favourite tropes 😊

Am eagerly awaiting the next installment!

Stolen Moments by Emily Bowie is an awesome book! This is the first book by Emily Bowie that I have read and it won’t be my last. This is the first book in the Steele Family Series. This book was so hot and steamy that I couldn’t put my kindle down until I finished this book. Stolen Moments was also an emotional story as well and it brought out all of my emotions.
Stolen Moments begins with Shay Steele remembering what she did one fateful night when she was going to meet the love of her life, Luke. The book picks up with Shay in her junior year of high school and she is attracted to her brother’s Kellen best friend Luke. Luke is on the high school football team and he has been hiding his feeling for Shay since she is his best friend’s sister.
The pair finally admit that they have feelings for each but they have to be careful because Shay’s brother Kellen may not approve of them being together. Shay’s father and Luke’s father knows how Luke feels about Shay. With Luke and Shay declaring their love and making plans to go to college and live together, they feel that their lives together are set in stone. One fateful night changed it all.
Do Shay and Luke get their happy ever after? You will have to read Stolen Moments by Emily Bowie to find out! This book has everything that a romance reader like me would love. This book has romance, a little suspense, and lots of sex scenes. Make sure you get your copy of Stolen Moments today! Emily Bowie doesn’t disappoint in this book!

Shay is the youngest sister with three overprotective brothers who are determined to keep the opposite sex away. She has always been attracted to Luke, her brother’s best friend, but never thought he would see her as anything other than LS, Little Shay.

Luke is the star football player who has a way with the opposite sex but the one woman that he can’t stop thinking about is Shay. He knows that her brothers wouldn’t want him anywhere near her, but he can’t seem to stay away.

This is a sweet and sexy secret romance set in a small town. This is a story filled with twists, romance and a love too strong to be denied.

This was just an amazing book. It truly shows what the power of love can do, not only between a couple but between siblings. This was very well written and kept me on the edge the whole time I was reading. Luke and Shay were just made for each other and all the up and downs they had made their relationship that much stronger. But were they able to overcome time and distance? You will definitely need to read this one.

It's been quite awhile since I read something by Emily Bowie and this one sounded like a good place to start again! In all honesty though, this book was a mixed one for me. I loved Shay and Luke. They're both really fun characters. Shay does act out at times, because having so many protective brothers and parents, she wants to be able to do what she wants! Luke isn't seen as boyfriend material, but from what I know about him after reading, he really isn't that bad of a guy!

I loved in the beginning that they're trying to figure out how to deal with their feelings and the "stolen moments" are so cute. It's clear they're falling in love and hope to have a great future together. That is cut rather short though!

That's where this book got a bit confusing for me. A lot goes on and there are from what I can tell, a lot of family secrets. So much is going on in that family and I kind of wished that we got more of that. It seemed to really stay on the surface of the story. It would've had more of an impact for me if we had gotten more details.

Time jumps in this book happen pretty often, so I felt that everything was kind of rushed. This made it really hard for me to really connect with the characters. I mean Kellen does something pretty big for Shay and it's like nothing happened! Shay connects with someone else in college, but we don't read much about that!

In the end, I really did love the idea of this story, I just wish the author would've taken more time to get into detail about different events surrounding the main characters. There were plenty of moments that had me smiling or laughing and I did like the idea that there is more going on in this family. I hope in the next book that we get more details!

All in all, Stolen Moments was a fast and interesting read. I love when a couple shouldn't be together, but still find a way to go after what they love!

Carla's Five Star Review

Stolen Moments is the first book in the Steele Family series. This is Shay and Luke's story. Shay is the youngest in her family, and she has four very overprotective brothers. When Luke, one of her brother's best friends, catches her eye, it is a done deal. They start to see each other in secret, and, you might thing that causes a ton of drama, but that isn't even close to the heart stopping events that occur! I don't want to provide any more details, but I will say that two lives will never be the same.

One click this right now! I promise you will be glad you did!

Shay and Luke! A romance hidden from everyone because Luke is Shay’s Brother Kellen’s best friend but that doesn’t stop them from forming a bond that outlasted many challenges and trials along the way. I can’t wait to read Kellen’s story next!

This is the first book in a new series from this author, and is Shay and Luke’s story. Shay is off limits as she is Luke’s best friends’ sister, but they cannot deny their feelings for each other. No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written story which is filled with secrets, lies, drama, romance, and is a steamy read. I look forward to reading more in this fascinating series, and recommend for all.

If you are looking for OTT drama that is practically pointless and unnecessary then this book is for you . I laughed so much towards the end because of how ridiculous this book honestly was.

The book itself?= 0.5 stars.

Stolen moments is the first book in a new series and it was a great beginning to this series. I am a big fan of small town romances and stories that centre around the older brothers best friend. That is one romance genre I can not get enough off and Emily Bowie wrote this genre really well capturing all the right emotions.

Shay is the youngest sister of three overprotective brothers that was really sweet. I really enjoyed reading how her feelings for Luke evolved as she got older and the way she interacted with her siblings.

Luke was the perfect hero for the story that I absolutely loved reading about. He was known as the town bad boy but there was more to him then how the town saw him. I found that he could be sweet and caring.

There was a few twists and turns throughout the book that took me by surprise, creating an enjoyable read.

This is a new to author. The cover and the the blurb drew me in. Parts of the story I liked and others not as much. I was left with a lot of questions what the purpose was in several scenes. The wasted five years seemed ludicrous to me or why they even needed to open.

Yet, the book was entertaining and since we read to be entertained that says something.

A fabulous book, great characters and interesting plot. Shay and her crush on Luke and Shay trying to spend time with Luke while evading her protective brothers. Shay and her involvement with one of her brothers cheating girlfriend and a tragic accident that turns both families lives upside down.

I liked the idea of the book however the actual story was a horriblee disappointment for me. Shay was too much of a brat and too selfish till the end for me.

The writing style made me cringe sometimes..like when she says his scent penetrated her. Somewhere half way through the book I just wanted to get it over with and skipped most of the pages.

Stolen Moments by Emily Bowie is a wonderful first book in a brand new series.

As soon as I started reading the book, I knew that I was going to love it. I mean, the girl next door, and a slightly forbidden romance because he is her brothers best friend? Yup, that is a book that I am going to fall in love with.

Shay is a character who is very relatable. She has this way about her, shy and timid, yet outspoken and forward. Because of this, I could relate to her in many ways. The relationships she shared with her family and friends was beautiful. You could tell how much family meant to her, and how, she truly felt their pain when they weren't acting like themselves.

Luke is the type of guy that everyone wants to be with, and be friends with. He is charming, and sexy, all the while being loyal, kind and caring. I absolutely loved how much he cared about Shay. He wanted to be there for her in order to protect and look out for her. Luke always put her needs and wants ahead of his own. He never wanted to do anything to upset her, even if that meant hurting himself, and some of his friendships in the process.

As the novel progresses, and the relationship between Luke and Shay moves forward, you will find yourself swooning and holding your breath, hoping that everything turns out okay. In addition, you will find yourself surprised by a few twists and turns that you don't see coming.

Overall, I absolutely adored this novel. The characters had me hanging on their every word. The plot line had me swooning, dying to see what was going to happen in the lives of Shay and Luke next. Emily Bowie did a fabulous job writing a beautiful romance story.

I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I know that I will definitely be picking it up!

4/5 Stars!

Shay Steele is the youngest child and only girl in the Steele family, who is well known in their small country town of Three Rivers. She's closest to her brother Kellen, who's only ten months older than her, and she's been in love with his best friend, Luke Rogers, since she was a little girl. But Luke will never look at her that way...

... except he does. Shay can't miss the lust in his eyes when he looks in her direction. She makes it clear she feels the same way, and the attraction between them explodes into a fire neither can contain. But they are both wary of Kellen finding out, because he has some anger issues, so they keep it a secret, fearing his response.

The Steeles are a very dysfunctional family, with secrets and anger issues prevalent. I adored the budding romance between Luke and Shay, and I understood why they felt the need to keep it from Kellen because of his behaviour, which was never really explained in this book (but does become clearer in book two, which I'm reading now). The Steele siblings are loyal to each other to a fault, although they fight and ignore each other, as siblings are wont to do.

Luke is a good guy deep down, although the town continues to paint him and Kellen as the town's bad boys because of the stupid things they do. But things take a sinister turn in a heated moment between Shay and another character, and she finds out just how deep her brother's protection and loyalty to her lies. She's plagued with guilt, and so heeds his pleas to leave town and go to college... leaving Luke behind.

Will she and Luke ever find their way back to each other? Will the truth about what happened that night ever come out? This is the first in the Steele Family series, and you'll need to keep reading to get all the answers.

Can I say I love Luke and Shay's story. This friends to lovers story had so much going on that it really has me thinking some of the background stuff will be resolved later. They tried so hard to stay away from taking their flirtation to the next level, but it was just to much. This covers their lives from high school and first part of adulthood. This is the first book about the Steele Family and I think it was used to kind of introduce the family. The closeness of Kellen and Shay meant we got a lot of Kellen moments without getting the full story, so it leaves you feeling like you missed something since we didn't get a bunch of details. Doesn't matter I really hope I get to read more because this author has a way of drawing me in and keeping me there. I want more of Kellen's story, I mean for as much as he lost his hope he was there for Shay when she needed him.

Like I said I was all over the place with this read overall I really loved it. The friends to lovers is always a favorite because of the connection and these two had that part down. They both had stuff they had to work through and in the end got their hea.
