THE GATHERING: Is the first full length paranormal novel in L.A. Fiore’s ‘Ivy Black Chronicles #1’ series.
This review is going to be all over the place and I apologize for that, it's also going to be as spoiler free as I can make it.
For me it probably wasn't a good idea going into this blind, only signing up for it
1: because I loved the cover and
2: because I’ve loved previous works by this author.
But then to start reading it and having to ask another fellow blogger what genre I was reading and then getting told it was Paranormal 🤦♀️which is sort of new to me, I’ve only got a few of this genre under my belt so to speak so I was skeptical going into this.
And that synopsis gives NOTHING away!!
I’m not going to lie, this did take me a wee bit to get into, and I wasn't even sure if I wanted to carry on, it was hard keeping up with all the different characters that made their appearance in this book. BUT once I progressed further into this I found myself unable to put it down. I even found myself falling in love with this book, and NOTHING could drag me away from it!!
But onto the book: In New Orleans during the Mardi Gras there’s a run down mansion that is believed to be haunted, the type of myth dares are centered on, enter at your own risk, but people that enter never make it out alive. But nothing is what it seems. Something evil walks amongst the residents.
But what shines through all the mayhem, chaos, blood and murder, is Ivy and Bain's story, theirs is a romance that transcends time. Theirs wasn't just just a love story, it was timeless, everlasting...it was whatfairyy tales were made of.
Reading this was like playing scrabble, trying to make sense of the words that were in front of me, chapter by chapter something new and unnatural happens, a cross between the XFiles, paranormal vs supernatural, the time and effort that went into this book was pure genius, and the thought process that’s gone into this book by this author is astounding. Even though this is an unedited arc copy the formatting is gorgeous, each chapter has an image that is eye catching and suits this book perfectly.
So be like me, go in blind, go in thinking your going to be reading a romance novel and come out at the end of this book a true fan, highly recommend.

Christ on a cracker this book was all kinds of AWESOME. It also doesn't really lend itself to my usual review format, so I am going to leave things a little on the vague side. What I will say, is that this book was excellent. The writing was fantastic. It was well paced. The plot was super engaging and original. The setting was perfect. It was atmospheric. It was spooky. The characters (both main and secondary) were well developed. I laughed a little. I cried a little. There was sex. Gods. Goddesses. Vampires. Lycan. Shifters. Witches. Demens. Hellhounds. Ghosts. Fairies. Crumbling plantations. Mental institutions. New Orleans during Mardi gras...and so much more. 
Honestly, just do yourself a favor and nab this one as soon as it becomes available. I cannot wait to see what the author has up her sleeve for this cast of characters next. Last, I will leave you with my favorite part of the book. I am still laughing over this revelation...
"He lives here.”“The devil lives here?”“Yeah, in Vegas.”“The devil lives in Vegas?” I guess of all the places in the world he could live, Sin City made sense. “Why Vegas?”“He owns the Bellagio.” Of course he did."

I've loved L.A. Fiore from the very start. From the first book of hers I've read to the last, she has captivated me with her words. Every story is unique. I've fallen in love with every character. And... every one of her heroes has made it to the top of my book boyfriends list!
In The Gathering , the first book of the Ivy Blackwood Chronicles - her first foray into another subgenre and she chooses paranormal - Fiore gave us a new world order to become invested in. It touches on reincarnation, the fight of good vs. evil, mythology, creatures of the night, our assumptions about evil, and the inevitability of true love.
Ivy was confined to a mental hospital in New Orleans for 20 years. That's 20 years of loneliness... 20 years of disillusionment... 20 years of planning. She knows that the darkness is coming, but she has no idea, not yet, of the huge role she plays in fighting it. Bain has lived for centuries as a lycan and he and his crew have been summoned to New Orleans because they also play a huge part in the fight, Bain most of all. Absolute evil is here, turning people against each other, changing the very fabric of reality. The forces of what is good and what is right, the forces that are meant to protect humanity, must find a way to balance the tides once again.
Ivy and Bain owned me! I couldn't get enough of their connection and I loved how interwoven their history was with their present. Their love was intricate, complicated and yet so simple at the same time. It was beautiful and I wanted more!
So was Fiore successful in creating a new paranormal fandom? Based on my five-star rating, I'd say she definitely was. The Gathering was so different from anything this author has ever produced, however, it was still just as alluring and exciting and intense and intriguing and stunning as anything else she's written. I have no idea when the next book of these chronicles will be complete, but I for one am ready to continue the adventure.

The story started really good with a bit of mystery, it intrigued me but then it fell flat and after a while, I felt it become a bit repetitive. Besides the beginning, there isn’t so much happening in the story and after reading 60% I started skimming. But I have to add it has such a gorgeous cover! Told in multiple POV, in both 1st and 3rd person. It’s the first installment in the "Ivy Blackwood Chronicles". Overall, it was an okay read for me but I’m in the minority here as you can see all the five stars so give it a chance, hope you enjoy it more than me!

So this Blew me away: it was so breathtaking and also so completely different to what I was originally expecting.
A really hard one to describe and categorise but I will most certainly try my very best.
So: When I started this I was a tad confused: there is almost a purposeful layer of mystique layered here to tantalise and obscure: serving to also bait that hook with such delicious allure.
But no matter my perplexity here there is no way on this planet I could have put this down as each baffling bone thrown only served to further titillate my senses.
Drawing me in and weaving such an intricate web of fascination.
It was almost like the story here was unfolding and revealing itself a morsel at a time and we were as much in a state of bewilderment as the colourful cast of otherworldly individuals were.
And what a line-up of diverse characters we had here: if you can think of it them: they were probably
included here.
Vampires, shapeshifters, witches, gods, demons, ghosts the list goes on: you would think it wouldn't actually work but it does.
This was urban fantasy at its finest and I was agog with such wonder the entire time.
Cleverly written from multiple viewpoints: all eventually converging at one point in time
Fast paced with something for everyone: this had action, mystery, horror, love and let's not forget the sex (had that too)
This really was a smorgasbord for every eventuality and appetite.
I'm really looking forward to seeing where the Ivy Blackwood Chronicles journey will take us next.
I for one will have a first-class ticket for that exciting trip.
The gathering itself then manages to wrap-up proceedings ever so nicely while still leaving some loose threads dangling for further progression.
I was left here with a profound sense of anticipation for this author's next instalment.
My first experience with this author but most definitely not my last.

This is the book I have always wanted to write, but I wasn't sure I could pull it off. I am thrilled with how it turned out. I wouldn't call this true paranormal...it is more my take on paranormal. I hope if you read it, you experience the magic that is Ivy and Bain's extraordinary journey.

The cover fits this book perfectly! After reading the book, this cover describes what you are about to dive into with great accuracy.
I really enjoyed this book because of how different it was. It's a PNR book with a touch of a horror movie feel to it. In the beginning it was a little confusing because the author was switching between characters without much explanation. It's a great technique to get the reader to really absorb into the book, to pay attention closely, and to see how everything was going to fit into place.
The further I got into the book, the more fascinated I became, especially in Ivy's character. For everything that she has been through, she was such a sweet and kind woman. It really pulls you to her more because of how she thirsted for knowledge and cared about everyone she was in contact with. I like that the author did not break her after all that she had been through.
The story of Ivy and Bane is one of the ultimate love stories and made for such a sweet ending. I like that there is so much more that can be done with this series. After getting to know quite a few side characters, I'm looking forward to seeing them all get their own book. I'm also looking forward to learning how the author is going to top this one.
I listened to the audiobook and I highly recommend it. Tracy Marks is one of my all time favorite narrators and I get to add a new favorite male narrator to my list. Aaron Shedlock's voice is one of the sexiest male voices I have heard and was so easy to listen too. To top that off, he did such a good job of the female characters. I don't like it when male narrators try to do the high pitch voices for females. I think it is much less jarring when they just change their tone just a bit for the female parts and Aaron did a fantastic job of this.

My review is not justified because I'm not a paranormal reader. With limited ability I read the book and honestly, it impressed me more as a thriller. The ominous background of Misty Vale and Ivy Blckwood as a trapped prisoner just pulled me right in. She's linked to the gruesome murders happening in New Orleans.
"I was sure I was slipping deeper into my illness, what with my foray into summoning fire and not just summoning it but holding a conversation with myself on validating my crazy."
Some animal is clawing his way through young victims and infecting them to change into his soldiers of mayhem.
Josiah Abiviny and Cyril Gaudet have their hands full with trying to make sense of it and stretching their own personal realms of reality.
"you have been conditioned to believe anything out of the ordinary isn't normal, but the standard for normal is different across the board. the world is made up of more than just what you see"
The warriors are gathering and the air is trembling with dreaded anticipation. Hunters, bloodsuckers and shifters are converging after 22 years.
The buildup was crazy and the story just tiptoe on eggshells.
Since I don't know any better about paranormal books, I'm still able to appreciate good, taut writing and intense plot
A treat for pnr fans. Go enjoy !

I’m a lover of words; partly, because I’m a high school English teacher, but mostly, because I find writers’ ability to fluidly string words together in a way that clearly illustrates the ‘voices in their head’ and illicits a response from their audience to be a compelling tool for offering insights, teaching lessons, or just simply entertaining readers.
There’s a sense of power in words, both the oral and written ones, and while they can serve as weapons, the ones that consume me…that awaken my imagination…that lure me in and hold reign over me until the final word is read are the ones that empower me to continue to teach my students how to use them correctly, making them so much more than simply a means to communicate.
In my almost 41 years, I’ve read A LOT of books; you don’t become an English teacher with a Masters in English without being introduced to an expansive library of texts, but up until about 5 or 6 years ago, I had never ventured into the romance world because I thought I knew what good writing was…what literary storytelling was, but I can wholeheartedly say that I was just being a pretentious snob, and that revelation changed my entire view on what constitutes a piece of literature, and what I’ve learned since becoming a member of the romance community is that the craft of writing cannot be singularly defined, and it’s through my need for escapism and my need to experience stories that speak to my heart and to my soul that my role in the book world has grown, offering me the opportunity to Beta read and also proofread as well as granting me a look inside the makings of a story, of its characters, and of its lessons, and I’ll forever be grateful for it because one of the many authors it allowed me to form a bond with is L.A. Fiore, and it’s her newest release, The Gathering, that made be fall in love with lyrical words, multifaceted characters, and a setting that offers up a world of possibilities.
I can’t begin to concretely explain just how epic Ivy and Bain’s story is, but I’ll try because it’s a book that deserves to be praised. The Gathering is a love story of epic proportions...not just between a man and a woman or otherworldly beings but it illustrates the love of life...of the choice of how to live and what to live for, and as difficult as it is to keep the world balanced with both good and evil and the sacrifices that have to be made to do so, there’s a hope that in the face of adversity, selflessness will light the way and allow a fresh start...a new beginning of sorts, for all those involved. An despite the loss, there’s a hopeful lesson at the end and a challenge to humanity to keep one another in check but not by intolerance and anger but by realizing the bigger picture and choosing to bring light instead of dark to the forefront.
Even though there are a plethora of characters and plot lines, it’s easy to understand how everyone and everything fits together in the big picture because as the story progresses, the author guides her readers to realize exactly how all of the characters are connected and just what’s at stake, not only for New Orleans and the main people involved, but also for the world at large. Readers learn so much about mankind’s strengths and weaknesses through the events of The Gathering, and in some ways, those characteristics are embodied by the supernatural beings involved, clearly illustrating a commonality between other worldly creatures and human beings. All of mankind as well as other worldly beings are flawed and all have the ability to choose right or wrong, and what becomes quite obvious as those decisions are made is that those two paths are not exactly opposite; they actually run next to each other, allowing some to veer in one and then the other until a final decision has to be made...one that there may not be any turning back from.
Every character that L.A. Fiore crafted for Ivy and Bain’s story, regardless of how big or small their impact is, plays a significant role for the resolution of the book, so it’s important to understand all the players involved, where they stand, and the effect they have, not only on the pivotal events throughout the story line, but also in the grand scheme of things. ‘Seeing is believing’ is an important idea, not only for those individuals refuse to acknowledge that which is unknown, but also for readers as they traverse through the story and are exposed to the supernatural beings and events that transform New Orleans and have the potential to destroy the world.
Ivy and Bain’s love transcends time and space, and as their past comes full circle into their present, readers see what they both sacrificed and endured for their powerful connection. It’s quite interesting to see the contrast between Bain and Ivy...her innocence and in some ways timidity to his brashness and girth for lack of a better word. It’s exciting to explore the 21st Century through Ivy’s eye, knowing she doesn’t quite understand but the fact that she loves all the chaos adds to her awe. There’s pureness in Ivy and Bain’s bond and as their memories are explained and truths revealed, it’s clear just who they are to each other and why nothing can break what was created so long ago.
The Gathering is a powerful story filled with multifaceted characters, a setting that is both spellbinding and horrifying, and a plot rich in tumultuously evil actions as well as emphatically good moments and like all happy endings...good defeats evil...perhaps not in the way once thought but in a way that tips the scales maybe just a little bit in good’s favor.
The world and characters L.A. Fiore created in Ivy and Bain’s story are ones that I won’t soon forget, and the fact that Jareth’s story is up next has me anxiously waiting to reunite with the members of Ivy and Bain’s extended family, hoping that the momentum gained in The Gathering will continue to hold true as the series continues.

It’s exciting to explore the 21st Century through Ivy’s eye, knowing she doesn’t quite understand but the fact that she loves all the chaos adds to her awe. There’s pureness in Ivy and Bain’s bond and as their memories are explained and truths revealed, it’s clear just who they are to each other and why nothing can break what was created so long ago.
The Gathering is a powerful story filled with multifaceted characters, a setting that is both spellbinding and horrifying, and a plot rich in tumultuously evil actions as well as emphatically good moments and like all happy endings...good defeats evil...perhaps not in the way once thought but in a way that tips the scales maybe just a little bit in good’s favor.
The world and characters L.A. Fiore created in Ivy and Bain’s story are ones that I won’t soon forget, and the fact that Jareth’s story is up next has me anxiously waiting to reunite with the members of Ivy and Bain’s extended family, hoping that the momentum gained in The Gathering will continue to hold true as the series continues.

I had this on my bookshelf for ages, so I decided that I should finally read it and I. Did. Not. Expect. That. The Gathering is so much more than it seems. It's so much more than a romance. L.A. Fiore has created a world that is full of unexpected surprises and I do not wish to spoil it for anyone. It's so unique and intriguing with a ton of twists one after another. I really loved the world building with how New Orleans was portrayed so beautifully and hauntingly. And the suspense was so thick, it had me biting my fingers. Some scenes at the start had chills, literal chills, running down my spine.
I'm also a little disappointed. It took me a while to get into this book, which is crazy as it has ghosts, vampires, lycans and demons in it. Lycans! And demons! And yet... I swear the pace was like a snail on top of a turtle trying to run on the slowest setting of the slowest treadmill in the world. The Gathering took me five days to read. That's a long ass time for me and I can't believe it's only 320 something pages. I swear it felt like a 500 page book. There were some parts where the story dragged and dragged. And there were others parts where it was so rushed that some twists didn't even have any impact on me. Especially the battle at the end, it happened so quickly that my brain experienced whiplash. So the pace didn't really work for me and the execution felt flat.
The other issue was the long (and I mean long) list of characters and who was related to whom, it was all so hard to keep track of. Even with the shifting POVs, I had trouble remembering certain characters. It definitely took away from the overall storyline. After some time, they all mixed up together. Ivy, Bain, Dr. Ellis, Bart, Jasmine, Doris, Jareth, Allie, Brock, Josiah, Aria, Cyril, Esther, Nick, Diana, Grace, Hope, Cinder, Hades. And I'm pretty sure I missed some.
The Gathering was a beautiful story. It had everything, passion, suspense, angst, action, horror, and a tragic love. It would've been perfect of not for the execution.

I LOVED EVERY MOMENT OF THIS REREAD/AUDIOBOOK LISTEN!! However, I sort of buddy read The Gathering this time, and it was brought to my attention how complex the storyline was. I must agree with that, and in the future when I recommend this book I will preface it by saying "if you want to listen to the audiobook (which has FANTASTIC narrators) make sure you have the physical/ebook handy" the story jumps around, and the visual text is needed to grasp the nuances of the voices.

There is so much to this book that if I try to talk about it all, I could be here forever! Now the book did start a little slow for me, but that was because there are three main characters that we have to get to know, so jumping from perspectives was a little twisted. Once the groundwork set up, it was an intriguing story that laced in paranormal, occult, magic, and the supernatural. Ivy was kept in a secluded hospital for twenty-two years. When murders start to occur in New Orleans where Josiah is the sheriff, he starts to find connections to something different. Bain arrives in New Orleans after being called. These three take an extraordinary journey. This journey was like an onion that draws you in with every new layer that pulled back.

THE GATHERING is a paranormal story on crack with so many twists that will have your head spinning. Really, this was so indescribably intense, interwoven with so many intricate details about every supernatural being you could possibly think of – from witches to vampires, lycans and even demi gods and zombies –, about the enchantment and thrills that Mardi Gras in New Orleans provides and countless other myths, spiked with the confusing aspects of Ivy and her beliefs of being mentally ill and unstable. Is your head spinning yet??
I have to admit, it took me quite a while to get fully immersed in the story – there’s just too much happening, too many (needed) point of views we were getting – from characters I couldn’t even really place at first.
Who is Ivy? Why is she in that mental hospital? Who is Bain? What’s the purpose of those gruesome, spooky, creepy happenings in New Orleans?
It’s convoluted and plain confusing and crazy – and scary – until it suddenly begins to make sense once the puzzle pieces finally start clicking into place. As soon as that point was reached, there was no other option for me than to let go and be completely pulled into this beautifully and intelligently crafted magical, mysterious and dangerous world that does not care about mortality or the limits of time.
The setting in New Orleans is nothing if not perfect – I don’t think there is a more mystical spot than this city during the mayhem and allurement of Mardi Gras for a supernatural battle between good and evil. A battle to restore the harmony and balance between darkness and light. After all, there cannot be good without the bad or light without the dark. And so it begins…
Chills. So many chills, evoked by all those haunting words, unexplainable events and murders, the endless twists, and all the magic and evil happening. The fact that even the smallest and seemingly most insignificant side character has their own important purpose … it blew my mind!
Now that I have fully arrived in this captivating world, I cannot wait for the next book in this series to be released, because I have still so many questions left – and I cannot even imagine the jaw-dropping answers that Ms. Fiore might come up with…

In the beginning I was very much captivated. Dark tones, madness and mystery. Horror. A general feeling of malaise. A perfect reading experience for Halloween. Remember the very first Halloween movie? Simple and utterly horrific. That’s what the author brought forth here. I compared to Anne Rice or Stephen King. I’ll stand by that.
Ivy. We don’t know what she is. Different. Spellbinding. Not crazy. Not a monster. Her world is the world I wanted to live in. Focus on Ivy.
Too many characters brought in. A bevy of paranormals. Some related, some not. I understand the world building. It came at a cost however. From psycho thriller to camp.
Somewhere along the line I forgot exactly what it was they were fighting against.
The end of days came too easy. The fight too short. Who won? Nonsensical.

I’ve been looking forward to this book since it was first announced. It seemed like the perfect October kind of read, spooky and full magic and things that go bump in the night. And for the first 20%, I was all in and completely intrigued but then……yeah, there’s a but….things got weird. The story lost its way a bit.
There were sections that were very well written, thoughtful, emotional with layers and depth. But in between the goodness, were scenes that felt out of place, unfocused, and to be honest, a bit campy. It really needed to be refined, scaled back in places and expanded in others.
While I really enjoyed certain aspects and parts of this book, overall, it fell short for me.

I am so confused.
DO NOT, I repeat do not do this book as an audio first.
I, the reader who has listened to many books, I od it always on 2 or higher speed. Not thing one....oh no...I had to go at some point to 1,90 or lower...
yup, that is unusual and pretty bad for me...
basically it is hard to connect the storyline, characters, time frames while listening because the book is written from past and present, with multiple POVs, in first and third-person... with very complex plotline...so bad call on me for choosing to do this as audiobook!!
mea culpa...
I will definitely need to reread this if I choose to read the next book in the series!

Strange and dangerous things are happening in New Orleans and the only thing Sheriff Josiah Abiviny is that Ivy Blackwood is somehow connected to everything. But how can a thirty-two years-old woman that has been locked away at a mental institution for twenty-two years and has had no contact with the outside world be connect with what is happening?
The Gathering is the first book in the Ivy Blackwood Chronicles and what a start! This paranormal romance took my breath away with all its drama, suspense, action, twists and surprises. Ivy's story will make you want to cry, laugh, scream and swoon.
The one thing that took my breath away was Ivy and Bain's love story. Their love is beautiful and their story is phenomenal.
L.A. Fiore did a phenomenal job with The Gathering. The story is captivating and unexpected and the characters are amazing. She delivers a page turning story, very well written, and she'll take you in an epic journey that you won't forget. I can't wait to read more about Ivy, Bain and all their friends.

What a ride!
From start to finish I was hooked!
This book gave me the creeps, had me at the edge of my seat and gave me the swoons. It also had me laughing and falling in love with a whole slew of characters that I want more of and am very happy to know that I will get to spend more time with them as this is just the first in the series.
There is a huge part of me that wants to get into detail about Ivy, as well as Ivy and Bain, but that would just ruin it for you. But what I can say is that I loved the journey that they both took me on. Ivy is a unique character and I loved how her story evolved and unfolded. There were quite a few things I didn’t see coming, but it all worked for me. And as for Bain and Ivy. There’s is an epic romance, a little mind bending, but epic and the swoons these two caused were real.
I know this is quick and vague, but it kind of has to be since to give you more would ruin the story and even now I think I may have given a bit too much, but it is what it is. I loved the world that the author brought to life, it was vivid and bright, even in the darkness and I loved how unique all of the characters were and how they brought more depth to the world at large. And after that epilogue, I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

I went into this book totally blind. It was the cover that drew me in, it is so intriguing. Not going to give anything away with this review.
I loved everything about this book, the story just draws you in from the first chapter, wondering where the story is going to take you. It grabs you and doesn't let go. I loved the characters they are interesting, the story, I was really surprised with the Blurb not giving anything away and I didn't know what I was expecting. but it was amazing. "I didn’t walk where dreams were made. I lived in the nightmares."
This book had a little bit of everything....
Mental Institution, haunted house, all things paranormal, mystery, love, sex, the list goes on.
"I was sure I was slipping deeper into my illness, what with my foray into summoning fire and not just summoning it but holding a conversation with myself on validating my crazy."
I really enjoyed this book and trying to fit all of the pieces together. It was different from most of the paranormal books I have read but in a good way. Plus who doesn't love an epic love story that lasts forever

This book has become one of my top 2018 reads! It’s fast paced, action packed, full of suspense and intrigue that you won’t be able to put it down.
I’m not going to go into detail with my review. I want you to be shocked and in awe like I was. Every time a new detail got revealed my jaw was on the floor and I want you to experience those emotions. Everything you have ever wanted in a PNR is in this book. It left me on the edge of my seat and was even spooky at times. The suspense killed me. I kept waiting for that fine line to disappear and the impending doom. I read this late into the night and to be honest I’m going to read it again. It’s just that good.

The Gathering was a little confusing for me at the start. I went in blind and I think I expected a bit of a dark romance with the way the story began. Once I realized the paranormal aspects of the story and as the story progressed with more details coming to light, I did get caught up in the story and enjoyed it more.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the story, the background of New Orleans and the hints of dark magic, ghosts, zombie, etc.
Awesome narration on the audiobook kept me listening from start to finish!

This is my first book by L.A. Fiore and man am I hooked! I won't lie that this cover drew me in. I fell in love with it the second I saw it. I am not usually a paranormal person but the author absolutely nailed this book. I am so thankful I stepped out of my comfort zone, and took a chance. I could not quit reading it. I devoured the pages like a women possesd! Every page thrilled me more than the last. The suspense that surrounds this book is all consuming. I honestly can NOT recommend this book enough! Wow. I am truly almost speechless after finishing this book. At times it was hard to follow yes, but at the same time that added to its appeal. I loved getting submerged in the super natural of this story. Every character The Blackwood Chronicles introduced, grabbed your attention and made you want their story. Ivy and Baine was hauntingly beautiful. I loved reading about their journey. Their story is everything you could want and more. Their chemistry sizzles from the pages of your Kindle. Their love truly has no limits. I loved how everything was a constant puzzle. Its was the perfect web of mystery and fantasy. I did NOT want the book to end! I am on pins and needles for MORE!

Ivy is one of my favorite heroines. Everything about her was pure and beautiful. She was one of those heroines you couldn't help but love. Ivy's journey was a emotional roller coaster ride, but you loved every minute of it. She wore her emotions on her sleeve and you admired her for it. The love her character had was endless. Ivy's strength is what drew me to her the most. No matter what obstacle she had to face, she didn't waver taking it head on with force and determination.

Baine seriously stole a piece if my heart. Although stoic at times when he allowed his emotions through he was beautiful. His character was full of passion and strength. Everything about his character made you feel warm and safe. His story too, put your emotions through the ringer. My heart ached for him many times. Sadness aside his alpha side was smoking hot. Baine definitely knows how to turn up the heat. Like Ivy his love runs deep. He is out to tell you his story, while stealing your heart along the way.

Ivy is one of my favorite heroines. Everything about her was pure and beautiful. She was one of those heroines you couldn't help but love. Ivy's journey was a emotional roller coaster ride, but you loved every minute of it. She wore her emotions on her sleeve and you admired her for it. The love her character had was endless. Ivy's strength is what drew me to her the most. No matter what obstacle she had to face, she didn't waver taking it head on with force and determination.
"On some level, I knew him; on some level, he was mine, but not anymore and still my body remembered."
Baine seriously stole a piece if my heart. Although stoic at times when he allowed his emotions through he was beautiful. His character was full of passion and strength. Everything about his character made you feel warm and safe. His story too, put your emotions through the ringer. My heart ached for him many times. Sadness aside his alpha side was smoking hot. Baine definitely knows how to turn up the heat. Like Ivy his love runs deep. He is out to tell you his story, while stealing your heart along the way.

Well earned for one of the most original, and unique stories I have read. The Gathering was one of the most hauntingly beautiful books I have had the pleasure of reading. It is most definitely going into my best reads of 2018 folder!

WOW! Stunning. Absolutely Stunning!
The Gathering by LA Fiore is unlike any other book, any other realm. My mind is still spellbound by the author's words; I felt I was taken to another world and my imagination just went completley wild when it came to this book.
I'm slowly moving into the genre of paranormal - It's not usually the genre that captures my attention, and now, after this book, I will be paying A LOT more attention to it. I seriously underestimated this novel - it wasn't what I thought it'd be, and what I got was more and MORE than I expected.
Ivy and Bain were destined to save the world together, and they were destined to be together full stop. I loved the pair together and I felt the love between them. It was truly magical.
There are plenty of surprises in this novel. It is a completely unpredictable novel, and has a lot going on - and it's energy just takes over your being. This novel feels ethereal, and I was bound to it.
The Gathering has become one of my favourites of 2018. It has also made me want to read more in the field of paranormal romance. Another book that has taken a piece of my heart. I can't wait for the rest of the story!!

Having never read an LA Fiore book before I had no preconceived ideas as to what this book was about nor did the synopsis give very much clue either. I can say that it is the first book of a Paranormal Romance series, of which I was particularly eager to read.
What I did know very early on is that this book revolves around Ivy Blackwood, who following an event when she was a child had spent the last two decades in Misty Vale, a mental asylum.
At first it was pretty hard to ascertain the exact purpose of the story, however eventually this became a lot clearer and I was from that moment completely submerged within the story.
I have to say, having read quite a few paranormal romances in the past, that this book is very much driven by the story itself rather than the actual romance. Every character was unique and that quite honestly was a refreshing change especially when you think nothing can surprise you anymore.
Whilst this book took me a little time to get into, I did find that overall it was a great read and it definitely won't be the last LA Fiore book I read.

I am still in awe of what I just read. L.A. Fiore is already one of my favorite authors of all time, but she just took it to a whole other level. Talk about a hybrid author!! This woman can write anything she wants!
The Gathering is a phenomenal read and is definitely one of the best reads of 2018 for me. I just recently started to get back into the paranormal genre. But this book is so much more than that. How a person can think up these characters and this story line totally blows my mind. Love, lust, suspense, fairies, vampires, witches, wolves this book has it all! The Gathering is a literary masterpiece!

Holy...WOW!
Seriously, I new Liz could write romance but she NAILED paranormal/thriller/suspense!
I don't even know how to write this review as I am still REELING from the story.
Be prepared to not guess the ending. Seriously, I really thought I had it all figured out and then BOOM, she threw me, again and again. There are no words that can really express what I feel right now. The characters, plot, story - nothing short of amazing. I would give it more then 5 stars if I could.

WOW....just WOW! I am só glad i said yes to an ARC of The Gathering! It is such a captivating story,i loved every second!
Ivy is a girl with a dark history,one she can’t remember. She’s lived most of her life locked away,but as bad things start to happen,her isolation comes to an end.
After thinking she had no-one for so long,she now discovers she has friends. Friends that stand by her as the world invades her life. A world where the dark wants to reign. They’re in for one hell of a fight.....
If you really want to know what happens,you’ll have to read this one yourself. But i warn you,you won’t be able to stop until the last page,it’s that good!

A lot of POVs in the beginning of the book. You need a diagram to remember everyone’s name and what they do, etc.
The first three hours of the book was confusing I almost DNFed it, but I am glad I didn't. If you get over the first 3 hours of the audiobook, you will be fine.
