Five years ago, I let the girl of my dreams get away.

To be honest, I set fire to her barn, fought with her brothers, then exiled myself to a logging company in the Canadian wilderness.

But a reclusive b@stard can’t hide forever. When my sister got sick, I took in my two young nieces. Now I’m paying rent to Sesame Street, drinking Jack and fruit juice, and reading my chainsaw manual as a bedtime story.

I’ve gone from lumberjack to babyjacked, and I don’t know what the hell I’m doing.

Fortunately, I found a nanny. Five years have passed, and Cassi’s not just my best friends’ little sister anymore. She’s all grown up, dark and beautiful with a smart mouth and a broken heart.

Doesn’t take long before she’s falling for me again, but I can’t shout timber yet.

Cassi can’t forgive the past. And I can’t tell her why I ran.
When a man doesn’t deserve a second chance...
He’s just gotta steal her heart.

Cassi Payne hasn’t seen Remington Marshall, 27, in five years when he fled town following the burning of her family farm’s barn. Self-imposed exile in the Canadian wilderness comes to an end for Rem when his little nieces need him. Turns out a three year old and a one year old is more work that cutting down trees, and a nanny in the form of his old love is just what he needs.

“I grabbed the biggest zucchini from the display and wiggled it before her. She had enough class to ignore the metaphor.”

This started out really comical. The scenes and descriptions were witty and I chuckled out loud quite a few times at the chaos with the kids. Rem and Cassi also had an entertaining rapport and great banter with plenty of innuendo. It kept the dialogue fun to read.

“‘All good girls like a little nut.’
‘You haven’t seen me crush one yet.’
‘Say the word, and I’ll bust one myself.’”

As the story progresses though, some of the issues get a little heavier, and I noticed the tone shifted from light-hearted romcom to life problems and miscommunication, which was disappointing as the author shows talent at writing humorous scenarios. While it’s not angsty, whiplash was starting to build from Rem’s changing resolutions to win her back or let her go. And poor Cassi with those 5 grown brothers of hers—oh man she was a saint for putting up with them as much as she did. None of them were endearing and Tidus needed to man up long before he did. Either there wasn’t enough resolution there or he got off easy. And speaking of getting off easy, that social worker needed a complaint filed about her and her racist remark.

There were certainly places where this story affirmed my distain for judgmental small towns, and my god did the public library not know they make washable children’s paint these days??? Or hello, Crayola’s ColorWonder only shows up on special paper! As far as I was concerned, the only person who should have been ashamed in that situation was the children’s librarian who ran the program.

I gotta say, the cover is alluring—the abs, the V, the baby—yeah it grabbed my attention. Told via Remington and Cassi’s alternating first person POV, there are a few hot scenes too. That tub and that porch…well it’s used well.

“No more words, only grunting. No more foreplay, only rutting.”

I do wish the tale would have been clearer on whether Rem had been celibate or not during their years apart. I’m going to hope for the best, especially since Cassi at twenty-some years old and a college graduate was a still a virgin. On the plus side, the story is free of OW/OM drama. I also give kudos for depicting an interracial couple, something that’s not embraced enough in contemporary romance market.

I liked my first foray into Ms. Frost's 'verse of Butterpond, though I did think it was uneven in tone.

Romances are like a good song to me - when the flow is there, you just want to bop along, humming to yourself, losing yourself in the feels while just grooving with the beat. But if all those notes don't flow, you find yourself stumbling, dancing like Elaine from Seinfeld and struggling to get back on beat. That's what Babjacked did for me.

It starts off as a fairly light comedic romance, with a lumberjack hero and a virgin heroine, but it swings very firmly into angsty, more serious territory nearer the end. There are elements that I did enjoy of the story, such as the family dynamic and pretty good bits of comedic banter. I just don't think it flowed as a cohesive story.

When the story gets bogged down in the angsty waters of the hero's past drug abuse as well as his currently drug dependent sister, the turn feels sharper than it should have. The theme of self-worth and how it can lead to drug abuse is an interesting one, but it didn't really flow with the lighthearted comedy at the start of this story. And when the angst enters, it gets slightly repetitive, trying to hold off the inevitable reveal of the "mystery" of what happened five years ago when the family barn burned down.

In the end, I wouldn't mind checking out other books by Ms. Frost, it's just this particular tale wasn't quite the breakaway pop hit I hoped for.

3.5/4 stars!

The Review:
Honestly, this book was pretty good. I love second-chance romance reads and I had a great time reading this one. There were a few frustrating moments, but it also had some seriously funny moments in it. Funny enough that I found myself laughing loudly at some of the insane antics from these characters as well as the comical tone of the story itself. I also felt those lovely tummy flutters when Rem and Cassi were together. It was obvious in so many ways Rem struggled with what happened in their past, his regret for abandoning the only family he knew and the only girl he ever loved. His struggle to find himself in this book was real and by the end, even though I was frustrated with him, I was rooting for him, Cassi and those two, sweet little girls.

Great story and great writing.

Story/Characters...
Family drama...
This book was loaded with it. Cassi Payne is the adopted daughter in a house of five older, bio brothers. After their father passes away and leaves the farm to all his children, forcing them to come home and deal with it, every day is a war zone in the Payne household. One brother is trying to honor his deceased father's wishes. One brother deserted the pastoral life he once vowed to live, for a life of self-imposed isolation. One brother is hardly hanging on and keeping secrets. One brother is so angry, every day is a fist-to-mouth moment. One brother ran away to join the military to escape the farm. And the sister, Cassi, is right in the middle, always their anchor and always their glue.

Remington Marshall is the town bad boy who grew up in a dysfunctional household, but the Paynes took him in and treated him as one of their own. He and Cassi fell in love, but something happened one night that sent Rem running out of town and Cassi left with a broken heart.

Five years later, he returns to help his sister with her two kids and after seeing Cassi again, he talks her into helping him care for his nieces, just so he can spend time with her. Spouting declarations of being a changed man, he sets out on a mission to win her back.

But it’s easier to say you’ve changed than to actually change, especially when you’re hiding secrets that could destroy everything.

I loved this story! Told from alternating POV’s, we see the internal fight as Cassi and Rem try to deny feelings that never went away. And once Rem gives into them, we see his determined fight to win back her broken heart. It was such a great journey and this author wrote it with wit and intelligence.

I loved how the author cemented Cassi as part of the family despite them being racially mixed. She was one of them, no questions or second guessing. Even when the family was in the middle of a meltdown, she was their sister. Period. I loved how they were written!

BUUUUUTTTT...
My only issues with the story were the constant bickering of the brothers and their brawls that ended with the destruction of the house/farm they were reluctantly trying to save. I also somewhat disliked the way they depended on Cassi to keep them together, insisting she neglects her own life to help them sort theirs out. Their antics were kind of funny, but it set a tone for their characters and I kept wondering how the author was going to redeem them in the following books, considering this is a series. These are grown men acting like spoiled teenagers. Even Rem had his immature, fist-banging-the-wall moments.

Cassi was as indecisive as they come. On one hand, I didn’t like how she never followed through with her desire to leave town. But on the other hand, I totally get it. She was frustrated, but she wanted to stay and help the family. She wanted to protect the farm. She wanted to stay and help Rem and ultimately she wanted to be with Rem. I honestly believe if she truly wanted to leave, she would have found a way. So I got her and I got her actions, more so by the end of the story. And it all worked out the way it was supposed to.

There was no big surprise at the conflict. We all saw it coming from the beginning of the book, but I loved the way the author handled it. It felt real and the angsts and drama was all there, written into the story and their lives and it played such a huge hand it how it all turned out. I enjoyed watching it unfold and the ending results after all the lies were laid bare. Cassi’s forgiveness knew no bounds and I think that’s why I loved her so much.

Now let's talk about Cassi and Rem together... HOT! Sweet. Sexy. Angsty. And funny! Cassi and Rem were so much fun to read and watching big, tough Rem fall in love with his nieces was adorable. Watching him conflicted with what was best for them was heartbreaking, especially since he thought he wasn’t what was best.

The townspeople? I loved the way the author wrote them, but holy-moly were they so judgemental. I understood why Rem was reluctant to come back to Butterpond. I would have been too.

The Wrap Up:
This was my first book by this author. Overall, this story was a really fun read and a great intro to the series. And though I had my issues with the brothers and their intense drama, I was intrigued with the ending of this book, which introduced the love interest for book two! Their meet/greet was wonderful and I’m looking forward to seeing how Julian digs his way out of the mess he’s made.

Frost is usually crack for me but the narrative in here was like a Vegas act. Plenty of humor but at the expense of the story. I was ready to toss aside halfway through and skimmed to the end to see what happened to the hero’s sister.

Cassi Payne always knew Remington Marshall was it for her, too bad Rem and her overprotective older brothers didn’t agree with her. When Rem comes back to town after five of being away he swears this time will be different and he’ll prove he’s worthy of Cassi’s love. Will these two get their second chance or will lies and secrets tear them apart?
Cassi and Rem’s story is second chance love story that, if they want their happily ever after, secrets will have to be revealed and forgiveness given. The story was well paced and the characters entertaining and lovable, especially the ankle biters. I also loved the brothers part in Cassi and Rem’s troubles. I would love to figure out each of the Payne brothers stories and see why they are who they are. I enjoyed Rem and Cassi and hope to see if these two actually make, maybe catch up with them in one of her brothers books hopefully.

Well-drawn characters, angst and steamy seduction are what's best of Babyjacked. However, I found it hard to enjoy the story with the all the men constantly acting out in physical violence like they were 14 year-olds. It spoiled the sexy romance that the "hero" was so immature and emotionally weak. These men are adults in their thirties, and their go-to strategy for handling family conflict is property damage and fisticuffs. How is that attractive? I can't understand why the heroine was such a doormat. She let her brothers and her lover bulldoze her and manipulate her. I can't admire that kind of martyrdom. I'm certain this book was meant to headline a series based on the 5 brothers, but I don't care to read any more about these dysfunctional people.

This is a difficult one for me. On one hand, it wasn't a bad book. It was amusing and I made it through, but on the other hand, it just didn't do much for me.

I don't know if I just didn't connect to the characters or I'd I just got frustrated with them. This book sounded awesome. I was really looking forward to it, and based on the blurb it seem to fit the bill of what I was looking for.

I got frustrated with Rem. I figured out pretty quickly what his secret was from 5 years ago. And I got frustrated that it took so long for that to come out. But I also got frustrated about the little lies he was telling about his sister's "illness". It just seemed really stupid to lie about those things.

Ask for Cassi, I just never really connected with her. I kept feeling like she wasn't following through on things she said she was going to do. And I felt like she was such a doormat to everybody. She gave in to her brothers, she gave in to Rem, she gave in to the people in town. And on the rare times that she actually stood up to Rem and demanded the truth their conversations were frustrating.

This book was not awful. It has its funny moments, it had its Sweet Moments... But I just didn't connect with it in a way that made me love it.

This was my first read by Sosie Frost, and I will certainly be reading more in the future. I had such a good time with this book. I loved the banter between Rem and Cassi.
The story started out with a light-hearted feel, but things got deeper as we went further into the story. There was always enough humor to temper some of the sadness that came up and it provided fantastic balance. The kids were adorable little hellions. I'm a sucker for the "I've loved you since we were kids" trope.
I'm also looking forward to seeing what happens with Cassi's brood of unruly brothers in future books. I'm sure Jules is going to be a hoot!

Five years ago, Remington Marshall burned down the Payne family’s barn. Despite his love for Cassia Payne, the youngest and only daughter, he chose to run away and live a life of solitude in the Canadian wilderness. But now that his sister is in trouble, he has to go back home to Butterpond to take care of his two young nieces, but he can’t do it alone. Cassia’s the perfect candidate for nanny, and this is the perfect opportunity for Rem to win her back.

The plot went something like this:
Cass tells Rem she won’t fall for his charms.
Rem makes a sexual pun and Cass comes back with her own.
Repeat x3-5.
Cassi pulls away saying she’s leaving Butterpond. Then something (an animal or insect, usually) scares her and she needs Rem to rescue her. OR Rem gets a look at Cass’s butt, makes an advance, then remembers how bad he is for Cass, tells her so, and walks away.
Next day: Repeat.

The attraction between Rem and Cassia was there, but sometimes they acted too much like two kids teasing each other and their chemistry faded. Their banter was cute and clever, but after endless sexually suggestive puns, it began to drag out.

Despite Cass having five older brothers, she was easily the most mature character, but that’s not saying much. The brothers constantly bickered like children and Cass always acquiesced too easily to anything asked of her, be it Rem or her brothers, putting her in doormat territory. Even until the end, Cass was playing referee and putting herself last.

This book is kind of unfair. I mean, there’s an unreasonably hot guy on the cover, holding an adorable baby. If that’s not kryptonite for 99% of the female population, then I don’t know what is. I mean, I feel like I had NO CHOICE but to download this book. The only thing that would’ve made it more irresistible would be a rescued shelter dog on the cover with the unreasonably hot guy and the adorable baby. But fortunately, I’m not bitter about all that emotional (and hormonal) manipulation the cover designer foisted upon me, because I actually ended up enjoying the book. (Phew. This could’ve gotten ugly otherwise.)

The tone of this second-chance romance is sweet and light-hearted, which I almost always enjoy. It’s the literary equivalent of comfort foods like warm mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, you know? It’s a comfort read. There’s plenty of gloom and doom in the real world. I don’t always need it invading my reading time, so this book perfectly suited my current reading mood.

I think Cassi is a great heroine, too. I don’t always like how she seems to let her overbearing and overprotective brothers bulldoze over her, but she’s the glue that keeps the family together, and I applaud her for her efforts to take care of everyone. And her kind heart is evident by the way she immediately steps up to help Rem, who is clearly over his head, with the kids. She’s also snarky and sarcastic and quick-witted, which I just find delightful. Her rapid-fire banter with Rem is one of my favorite things about the book overall.

Rem’s a good hero, too, even though he tends to martyr himself a little too much for my liking at certain points in the story. (Once you read the book, you’ll know what I mean. I don’t want to give anything away.) He’s adorably clueless when it comes to taking care of little girls, but that doesn’t stop him from bringing them into his solitary life when they’re in need of a temporary home. They’re family, and he adores them. And is there anything sexier than a hot dude who adores kids?

This is also an interracial romance, which I love. We definitely need more diversity in romance land.

If I had to complain, I’d say that Cassi’s brothers irked me a bit. Their constant bickering and fighting (physical fighting, mind you) made them seem super immature at times. I would’ve liked to see more evidence of their love and respect for one another, which would’ve made me more anxious to read their stories when the time came. (This book sets up the brothers up nicely for their own HEAs, even though I imagine they’ll need to do some serious growing up before they get there)

So, long-story-short, this is a sweet, engaging, second-chance romance underneath a cover image that is like crack-cocaine for anyone with estrogen running through their bodies. I dare you to look at that image, read that blurb, and NOT 1-click. (Don’t feel bad when you immediately download, either. I did. You won’t regret it. It’s a good read!)

Absolutely fell in love with this story and Rem and Cassi. Loved every word in this book. I did want to kick R.E.M. in the head a few times but he more than redeemed himself. And the two girls just added to the story. There were times where I was laughing out loud. The banter between them made it all. Such a great read. I devoured this in a single sitting. This is the first book I read from Sosie and I will be reading more. I highly recommend.

I voluntarily read this as an advanced readers copy.

I really enjoyed this. Yes, he was a pain in the ass at times. He had a rough life. Thankfully he got his act together in the end. Those kids really needed him. The good news was that her family was messed up too and I was happy that everyone was going to work together and make it right.

Great Story

I will just keep this review short and sweet. I really enjoyed Remington and Cassi’s story. It was a great second chance romance. It was a warm, fuzzy, romantic and comical. The flow of the story was flawless and held my attention from beginning to end. Great job, Sosie Frost!

I can never resist a book with a single dad, or in this case uncle, and Baby Jacked was right up my alley. One grumpy lumberjack, two mischievous little girls, and one woman who is not looking to get burned again all equal a great read that will have you laughing and swooning like crazy. There’s so much I enjoyed about this one, from the crazy antics the kids pulled, to fantastic banter that had me cracking up.

I loved Rem, but at times he frustrated me to no end with his stubbornness. I frequently wanted to shake him, and quite frankly every man in Cassi’s life. There’s stubborn, then there’s the level of stubborn both Rem and Cassi’s brothers had. It didn’t stop them from being a lovable bunch though. That said, Cassi was just as hardheaded, but between the two of them all that holding back couldn’t stop those sparks from flying. And man, do the sparks fly! Cassi and Rem had incredible chemistry that leaps from the pages and keeps you rooting for them to become more.

Babyjacked by Sosie Frost a sublime five-star read. I have read this author previously and enjoed it, but this was great Cassie was such a great character I really fell for her, she struggles under the weight of family pressure but will she break or will she run away? When you add into the mix and ex that ran away five years ago and took five years to get over and 2 adorable if troublesome little girls it all becomes a pressure cooker and Cassie puts on a brave face and wears on. That alone makes the book great, but when you add the ex a reclusive lumberjack Rem who is fighting with his own demons as well as secrets he is keeping hidden for reasons beyond his control. Will his demons and secrets crush Cas or will they finally allow her to grow tall and free like the sunflowers she loves.

Cassi and Remington are reunited when he returns home to care for his sick sister's two toddlers. It didn't take long for him to realize that he needed help, so he convinced his old flame, Cassie to be their nanny. They hadn't seen each other for five years when he broke her heart and left town. Their banter back and forth was humorous and it was sweet watching the spark appear. Told in dual POV's made it easier to know what each was thinking. A good read. I read an advance copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

He hires his old friend to be the kids nanny. Now you get so much. Emotions, attraction, fun, humor, forgiveness, love and so much more. This is my first Sosie Frost book and she did not disappoint me. Cassie and Remington had history from five years ago. Remington was once a part of Cassie's family, like a sargent son to her parents. Until the one night, the fire that changed Cassie and Remington's future and the Payne farm forever.

The youngest of five, Cassie had to always live under the shadows and the protectiveness of her older brothers. Although she was adopted, she never felt as if she didn't belong. The Payne's had so much love to share and the whole town felt it. However, the night of the fire brought pain, deceit, and anger that once was not there. Soon after the Payne's endured the loss of their mother and father, leaving Cassie and her four brothers to mend after the farm. It was suppose to bring them together but instead it made them drift further apart. Cassie was the glue that held them together, but barely.

Remington Marshall came form a broken home. The only place and people he called home were the Payne's who opened up their home and hearts to Rem and his sister. Rem knew falling for Cassie was a big no no, but he couldn't help himself. Just when he thought he could finally have Cassie, the barn burnt down and Rem was to blame. Instead of staying and facing the music, he left. Leaving behind a broken hearted Cassie and broken down farm.

Five years later Remington is back in town to take care of his nieces. It's the last place he wants to be, but he is needed and he came back. Cassie is reunited with Rem when she hears he is taking care of his nieces and decides to bring some things to the cabin for the girls. In and out was her plan, but the moment she laid eyes on Rem she knew she was a goner. Before she knows it she has agreed to be the girls nanny, since it's clear that Rem is unable to handle the girls on his own. As time passes, Rem and Cassie rediscover one another again and there is nothing stopping them from being together except for her brothers who want nothing to do with Rem. The deeper and deeper Cassie and Rem get involved, the more guilt Rem feels because he is keeping a secret from Cassie. A secret that could change everything from their past and future. Will Rem be able to keep the truth from Cassie? What really happened five years ago the night of the fire?

Babyjacked was well written and I enjoyed Cassie and Remington's story. I can't wait to read more from Sosie Frost.

BabyJacked by Sosie Frost is my first experience with this author.
This novel gets a 4/5 from me, had great potential to be a 5 but some areas moved a little weirdly for me and I had some unanswered questions (which I hate hate hate).

Cassia “Cassi” Payne is the only girl in a family of brothers. Disfunction is too tame a word for Cassi’s life with her brothers on the farm. Five years ago she lost the love of her life and recently he has found his way back to town.

Remington “Rem” Marshall is Butterpond’s royal screw up. He hightailed it out of town five years ago, away from the love of his life, away from prying eyes and gossips. He is back in town to help take care of his sister’s daughters while she gets back on her feet. One knock at the door is all it takes to put him back into past feelings he thought he outran.

Cassi knew she shouldn’t drop the kids stuff off to Rem, she knew she wasn’t strong enough to resist his charm. He was even hotter now than when he left town without saying goodbye five years ago. She needed to leave town to start fresh, get out of the chaos of living with her brothers and away from Butterpond but the draw toward Rem is too strong.

One look into Cassi’s eyes he knew he was lost again. He needed to do whatever it took to win her back into his life. He offers her the job of nanny to his nieces to get whatever time with her he could. He knew he was crazy to put himself this close to her and think he could resist the urge to make her his.

Can Cassi and Rem overcome the pull of past mistakes and blame to focus on their future together? I enjoyed this novel but there were times it got a little overwhelming with all her brothers fighting, arguing and just rambunctiousness that was too much at some times. There was a back story about a barn fire throughout the novel (which was pretty easy to figure out from getgo) but played a big part in how Rem and Cassi were perceived by the townspeople. I would more than likely read another story by this author in the future but not sure it would be one I would return to read over and over again. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this novel, all opinions expressed are my own.

Love the sarcasm and snark between Rem and Cassi. They have a long history, knowing each other since childhood, with Rem breaking Cassi's heart when she is a teenager. After a tragedy on the farm where they live, Rem leaves for a logging camp to make his own way in the world, leaving Cassi behind broken-hearted. When he comes back years later to take care of his sister's children, Rem and Cassi's paths cross again and he realizes that his feelings for her haven't changed. Rem pursues Cassi doggedly, hiring her to be his nieces' nanny when he realizes he cannot take care of them himself. After all of the hurt he has caused, he must work hard to convince Cassi to take another chance on him. Now that he has seen her again, he can't fathom leaving her once again - until he does.

In addition to the stress of her relationship with Rem, Cassi is dealing with the dysfunction in her own family. With five brothers who can't seem to share a room without fighting and a failing family business, the fists often fly at home and the environment is toxic. When all comes to a head, I was happy to see Rem evolve from his somewhat immature character, ruled by his emotions and having an explosive temper, to a more caring and thoughtful man. The brothers, however, still seem a lost cause. Ranging from their twenties to thirties in age, shouldn't they be beyond fighting over shelves in the pantry and throwing punches over pop-tarts?

I gave this story a pretty high rating, because the conversations between Cassi and Rem are in equal parts thoughtful and hilarious, capturing my attention and keeping me reading to the end of the book. However, I don't like Cassi's inability to distance herself from the toxic relationships with her adoptive family and her willingness to return to Rem again and again, despite the hurts he has caused. The brothers' bad behavior is also bit disturbing. The little nieces in the story seem to have more emotional maturity at times.

A fun, if unbelievable read. This is a voluntary review of an ARC of the story.

An Awesome Book!

I loved reading Babyjacked: A Second Chance Romance, all about Cassi Payne is twenty-two with an Early Childhood Education Degree looking for a job and is adopted girl with five brothers and a stray named Remington Marshall the love of her life. Remington had a Parents and a sister who all had so many problems you didn’t know where your next meal was coming from or whether anybody would care if you ever came home of not. So he basically lived with the Payne’s he was Tidus’s BFF. He had chores and he learned to farm and take care of the animals right along with the rest of the family. Cassi & her brothers are in a real bad way now, their father just past and two years prior their mother had passed. Cassi had moved home to take care of her dad till he passed and was ready to move on with her life now. All of her brothers were fighting and could not agree with anything and they were taking the house apart one piece at a time! Remington had moved away when Cassi was sixteen and never called or stayed in touch with any of them! But according to Tidus he’s back in town and taking care of his two nieces and needs clothes and toys, living in the cabin in the woods. The author wrote a story about a young girl who is being pulled in many directions and doesn’t know which place is best for her. Read this book and see what happens to Cassi & Rem? Another book was included called Deja Vu all about Eve a young girl who has lost her memory & Detective Shepard Novak who comes to her rescue and is trying to help her uncover her past. She wakes up in the hospital and the nurses hand her a baby girl, who she supposedly gave birth to when she was hit by an ice cream truck while she was in labor. The author wrote a story about a girl who loses her memory and how she overcomes her situation. Read this story and see the outcome of Evie & her Baby Clue! It was an Awesome Read and I enjoyed reading both books very much!

“Because thinking of that night when you were almost mine is the reason I had to put three thousand miles of uncut wilderness and five years between us.”

Second chance romances are recurrent in the literature. There is a fascination to accompany two characters, who by eventual circumstances end up separating, one day they meet and try to deal with everything that happened and see if there is any feeling to save. Cassie and Remington are one example. Two young friends, in love, and who through a tragedy ended up not having the chance to live a relationship. A fire will change their lives.
Five years later, Remington is back in his hometown. The same town he left without even looking back. The same place where his surname is synonymous with looks of disapproval. The place where he vowed never to put his feet again, but who was forced to return to take care of his two little nieces. The guy with bad boy fame became a man.
Cassie can not wait to leave. She has already sacrificed much of her life, and feels that if she does not leave the tiny town where she lives she will go mad. These last five years have not been easy for her. Her family's farm faces difficulties, her parents have died, and her brothers, now all on the same roof, loathe themselves. And she can not forgive Rem for leaving.
With the past still present, with so much resentment and hatred on the part of her family, the two will be able to come to an understanding? The book deals with this new opportunity, the present moment. The two are in the same place after so many years, and it seems that fate is bent on bringing them together. The chemistry still exists after so long, and as much as Cassie tries to escape, Rem will not give her up this time.
The book is a lot of fun. A solitary bachelor without the least social politeness taking care of two little girls is at least amusing. The two children are cute when they want and small dictators when appropriate. Cassie enters this mess as a babysitter for the girls, as she fears that Rem will not be able to handle the responsibility.
His sister's story was interesting, it was predictable that he was lying, that the reason for his return was another. The whole mystery of the fire from the beginning its possible realize that something is wrong. The situations are funny, the double meaning jokes with the fact that he is a lumberjack are hilarious, all the interaction of the two with the children are guarantees of good surprises. The scene with Melanie covered in paint will make the reader laugh
Overall there are no major twists. It's a light, funny book that deals with second chances. The end I found very run, some facts went unexplained. Because it's a series, even with other characters, I hope we'll still see more of Cassie and Rem to fill in the empty columns. Good reading, fun and romantic in the right measure.

This book is the first book of Sosie Frost’s that I have read. Because of this, I wasn’t sure on what to expect. I needn’t have worried though. I found the writing style easy to follow and the characters likeable.
I did find the story slightly slow and long-winded in parts but other than that, I enjoyed this story. I liked Cassie and Remington. I was amused at Remington’s lack of common knowledge on baby safety. I liked that even though Cassie was determined to leave, she stayed and helped Remington. She felt a responsibility to keep Remington’s nieces alive, fed and warm.
I liked that despite Remington’s lack of knowledge on child safety, he was helping his sick sister out by looking after his nieces. Mellie and Tabby made me laugh at least a handful of times. They were super cute.
I did see some chemistry between Cassie and Remington but I would have liked a little more. Despite that, I truly wanted Cassie and Remington to give love a second chance. I liked Cassie and Remington as a couple.
I felt sorry for the chaos that Cassie was dealing with at home but I was slightly amused by the chaos going on. I really liked the ending to this story and cannot wait for more books in this series.
I didn’t really have any faults or problems with this story but there was one thing that did irritate me. That was; the colour of Cassie’s skin was continuously brought up a handful of times. After the second time, it became eye roll worthy. I didn’t think the colour of her skin needed to be brought up briefly the five times or just over five times. Other than that, I enjoyed this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice second chance romance read.
